so that's the trick, I couldn't get past the first hour no matter how entertaining it was (claptrap is awesome) soon as I got into combat it was just way too hard and I rage quite multiple times

looking back, I think the game is fine, I just get bored of shooters these days

You need to play Borderlands2 for at least 4/5 hours to REALLY get into the the game, same applies to all RPG's tbh, if you play Oblivion or Skyrim for only an hour you would have no idea what the game really is all about.

Borderlands2 is a great game, I know some people love it so much it was GOTY for them. For me it was OK, it does a lot of interesting things right, and I love how the shooting feels, probably one of the smoothest games I've played. But just like Chris I need more essence, I've been playing FPSs since I can remember and fun shooting alone is not enough to sell me. (Still, I played some good 35 hours of the game)

Still, lemme repeat, you need to force yourself to play at least a few hours to be able to really judge an RPG.

Also, I believe Borderlands franchise would do a great MMORPG FPS! Borderlands2 co-op is so unbelievably fun you have to play it to believe it, now imagine with a world full of real people! Drools!

  • Sharing game screenshots and videos is 100% legal?

    • August 20, 2013 at 1:15 AM

I am almost 100% sure it's not illegal, specially since you wont be making any money off of that. Publishers and developers really don't care, in fact it's even a good thing cos it's free publicity.

(Unless Nintendo games, afaik Nintendo specifically banned and introduced copyright laws for media sharing stuff like that, so if you have any Nintendo games, you might get contacted by their legal dept to bring the media down)

PS. Great idea btw, I hope it comes to fruition.

I'm also subject to some stress which doesn't help me sleep in in the mornings, and like some of you guys already mentioned, I'm always feeling like I've got very little free time nowadays so sleeping gets in the way of my personal growth and of being a creative person (because work doesn't let me be that often) so I'm tempted to postpone sleep as much as I can.

You know, I was thinking about this yesterday... As we grow older, we become more and more busy, It's hard to find time to take a shit without looking at the clock or thinking what do we have to finish today, or do next. And when you DO manage to find time to rest from all the commotion, you typically schedule it to do something with the wife / family / friends, because free time is so scarce you wanna do something fun with it, right? We cap every single possible hole in our time with something.

What happened to free time? Time to literally just chill and exhale... Time to just sit down and figure out on the spot what leisure activity you're gonna be doing, because you feel like doing different stuff in different days. Those free days when you ask yourself: "ok... wtf am I gonna do today, maybe I'm just gonna go down to the beach and stare at the waves while scratching my balls", or "Ah... fuck it, I'm gonna stay here and boot up this game or movie"

It was in a day like that that I figured what my passions in life are. It was in a "boring" day like that I found what kind of music I love. It was in a boring day I discovered modding, it was in a boring day I decided to give texturing a go, it was in a boring day I decided to boot up a music making app and have a blast with it. Because without boring days, you will never take the time to discover new stuff, or just do some soul searching if you will.

That's also one of next goals in life, drift out of the main path more often. Otherwise, it will be the blink of an eye that you'll realize that you're 60 and old and wtf did you do with your life. And I also firmly believe that's the solution for stress, and quite likely the only one.

You're missing the point, you play games on the ZX Spectrum, unlike amiga pcs, macs etc you don't do anything else with it...

Well, that's the thing, yes you can, you can program! The ZX Spectrum is basically a computer, a very primitive one but you can code a lot of shit in it, games as well. In fact all the ZX Spectrum games, are coded on a ZX Spectrum (afaik)

I think my father used it to learn his first steps in programming, and I remember I used to play on it and it was a paint to load the games with the weird console command line and the cassettes.

Btw, that was an amazing watch! It's really interesting how when you're asleep you're actually assimilating the info that you've learned during the day, it carves it into your memory. Interesting fact that really makes you consider sleeping some more on it's own.

Yeap, I was thinking about creating a thread like this lately as well, because I came to the realization that although sleeping 5/6 hours a day worked for me for the last 10+ years, it's more and more becoming a habit that is slowly deteriorating my mind and my body. This topic goes hand in hand with being a night owl for me as well, so read up if you're interested.

I try to force myself to sleep, but as the extreme night owl that I am, it's one of the battles that I try to fight every night since I can remember. After a lot of research, (I actually spent a long time looking this topic up) I think what I am experiencing relates a lot to the definition of "Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder". Basically, after dinner I feel a boost of energy and I really feel that crave to sit in the computer and do some work / learning.

Big problem is, next day is work/school day and waking up early is where everything goes to shit for people that suffers from this.

In the end, being like this is extremely shitty because there's literally no way around it (I tried, there's some things you can do to make it better tho) so you end up living two lives, you live the life that our society portraits as normal (so called 9 to 5) and you live your night life where you're really in the mood and creating your best work. The result of this? 5 hour sleep nights on average, which you try to compensate with coffee, exercise, (etc) but do it for as long as I've been doing it and it starts to take it's toll on you.

It's frustrating and infuriating because it's hard for "normal people" to understand what this shit feels like. You can't just flip a fucking switch and change who you are. Unfortunately for night owls, this is frowned upon by society and night owls are labeled as lazy fucks who tend to sleep in in the morning. Truth and fact is, I probably work more hours than the majority of the so called "early birds", the bright and golden individuals of our society. I am firmly convinced that I am not biologically "wired" to go to sleep at 11pm like a robot just because society turned off the lights. After dinner, I get this burst of energy and creativity that typically lasts until 2/3am. All of my best work has been created during those hours, this has been going since I was 16 or 17 which coincides with when I had my first computer, which also proves that blue light at night will develop Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. (And since we deal a lot with colors and art, that flux app is not a solution for me)We will see how long this will last until I have some kind of collapse. But seriously tho, since I've started to exercise a couple months ago I feel i need more sleep so I've been thinking about REALLY forcing myself to go to sleep early'ish on the days that I exercise, and only do work on the days that I don't. I hate treating my life as a fucking calendar, but for the sake of health this sounds like a good thing to do. tl:drzzzZZzzzz

What exactly does that mean "owning anything you make"?

Like if you make a good indie game, it's successful they're free to take the IP off your hands and make a AAA sequel without paying you a dime?
