Like Thrik said, digital downloads won't overcome Physical content for some time because it will take ages to download and above that a lot of people prefer physical content. Most internet connections in the UK are around the 1-2mb/s mark. I myself have a 1mb/s connection but only get 120kb/s maximum. So unless all the lines are upgraded 50gb/s is ridiculous.

It's nice to see one overcoming the other. This is especially amusing given Sony's comments on HD DVD becoming obsolete soon. As long as the prices for burner's come down, I'll be happy.

Or just animate it in Maya and remove the whole physics element from it. If you only want it to fall one way it's not much use as a physics object if it's going to cause problems.

I'm curious, what's going on below the camera's FOV?

I think the textures could do some work (i.e making them look a bit less low-resolution and actually being made of material) - but otherwise it looks alright. Not sure what limitations Warsow has, so that could just be due to the engine.

That paintball thing looks fantastic - aside from the cool normal map at the top the diffuse also looks great (very convincing dirt on it). Although, shouldn't it be 'sup airball? (I.e the ' before the sup). I'd say the rock shape looks a bit un-natural (very flat) - but the texture looks decent.

Like Shadow for example? (people who think they are good, but in reality are very shit).

No, I wasn't suggesting that people were shit. I was saying some people here aren't very accepting of people with less skill.

In fairness quite a bit changed from the version he saw, and the version there is now. But mostly on the wood.

I have no idea what Face mapping is

Aniki, I think Iknow what you mean - but it doesn't happen in the engine I'm testing it in.

    Something different, anyway;

As Buddy said, yes, they are just planes put slightly (0.1 grid units in Max) above the surface, as are the leaking dirt parts under the roof.

The walls are done by taking a single plane mapped to a 2 X 1 section of my UV map (like a 256X128 section of it) and then duplicating that and cutting it to create the structure. It was very annoying.

Grungey = dirty . I can't do anything about the windows though. Windows all look the same when they are the same, and there's no way to avoid that.

Grungey + RTS style shot (I think - I haven't seen or played an RTS in ages)

(Test in S2 Engine, without shadows for some reason)

(And it doesn't support proper alpha maps)

Seir, uh, you're telling me to make it more grungey, right?

I love CS:S btw I just think custom maps are wasted on it because no-one plays them. Especially maps with custom content that require a long download. Same goes for DoD:S and HL2:DM.

Actually, I regularly see custom maps on rotation in CS:S - just not, as you say, the large ones. AIM_ maps are very popular, DE_/CS_ ones less so, but they still are played a fair bit.

Anyway, as has been said the map looks great.

Hammer is great to create terrain. Unreal ED is more suitable for modular level design.

I haven't used UnrealEd, but Unreal's terrain capabilities are far better than Half Life 2's. For starters, it doesn't use vertex blending, and secondly, you can have more than two textures. For creating it, I'm not sure between the two.
