Looking really good and I think it's safe to assume the man-hours spent in Alyx SDK is nearing the ones of Source/CSGO.

Going though some of the lovely screenshots, it seems like you're giving a fat middle finger to Source for all those past years where it hindered your creativity, and narrowed the scope of your projects due to its archaic limitations.

Told you couple of years ago to ditch Source and you'll never look back :)

I’ll add to this post with a bunch of screenshots once it’s finished, I also want to write an article once everything is said and done.

Doubt I will ever top my CS:GO hours, I made levels for that game for like eight years lol

Eight years on Source was plenty ?

I’m disappointed it is so over-acted, feels very Far East action from the 80s more than an adaptation of the cartoon ?

I'm on the fence. I really don't think it looks bad, but it definitely, definitely lacks Hollywood production values. that could be a huge problem for a sci-fi show. We shall see

Here's a thread for the project I'm working on with CoreyLaddo (animator) and a suite of talented voice actors, it's a modification for Half-Life: Alyx named LEVITATION.

We're planning on releasing the mod in 2022. You can expect a several hour-long, story-driven single-player experience in the Half-Life: Alyx universe (about 7.5 levels).

Probably some of the best trailer footage I’ve seen since HL2. This is looking jaw-dropping.

I think it was fair to wait and see. Dune only gets weirder from here. I mean, I can understand the studio being cautious about "guy turns into sandworm"

Just watched Blade Runner, that rocked. If he had edited it for pace a little bit more it would have been every bit as good as Dune. I guess he learned a thing or two. Crazy ass sex scene, very original… and that Ryan Gosling sure is a soulful white boy!

Also, how cool is it that Dune 2 got green lit immediately? Love it when quality gets the nod.

Twitter’s problem is that Twitter doesn’t make any money. They’re sort of a joke of a company until they fix that, no matter how many people with big egos are using it.

Facebook is interesting. They strike me as a company that could really go either way, either continue in massive success, or become the next Yahoo!

They are uniquely awful at public relations, but also a case study in the fact that public relations aren't important when you have a tight grip on the market. Their acquisitions have been game changers (Instagram especially), building from the success they had with Facebook and applying that to the next generation. Now they are pivoting to VR, laying the foundations to capture the next generation.

In terms of business savvy, they have made awesome moves at just the right times. I used to think Zuckerberg was just a lucky plagiarist, but now I think he's a smart one, he knows what to do and when, and he knows what he wants, as goofy as he can seem. The Oculus play hasn't really payed off yet, but it will. They are pouring money on that investment, really sticking with it and fueling it for the long term in a serious way.

I think people have underestimated Zuckerberg up to this point, and it has worked to his advantage. He is still quite young for a founding CEO, but his track record for success is already quite good. Ten years ago I did not expect that Facebook would still command so much cultural importance, but their vision for the future seems clearer than ever, much clear than Apple's, for example.

All this "Meta" stuff may seem like a reaction to the potential risk posed by regulators, but every time election season that rolls around in the US, the politicians grovel to Facebook like dogs at dinner time. If that's truly Facebook's primary concern, then they aren't going anywhere.

Played it for a little bit and honestly got kinda bored. Don't like the engine very much, wish it was GoldSrc

It also makes some really funky revisionist art choices with HL1 that don't feel like improvements in the slightest. Won't be finishing this one.

Maybe I’m just a total sucker for Lynch, but I also liked the original. There are some things I probably liked more about the original than this one. But there is no doubt that part of what made the original so ridiculous is that it tried to compress the entire book into a single film. It already feels much more manageable. I wish Lynch had that option, I assume the studio said no (which sucks, Star Wars around the same time got 3 films.)

Props to Timothy Chalamander, he was really good as Paul. I almost prefer him to my man Twin Peaks Kyle, who didn’t have much edge as a young man.

Spoiler When Timmy used the voice it was startling and really effective.

    Also Zimmer's score simply rocked.

  • Pavlov is getting a ''Hidden'' gamemode in it, if you remember the HL2 mod hidden source.
