I'm a little bit ashamed to post under this mindblowing door knob, but I want to share some progress of my little scene with you:[Blocked Image: http://i.imgur.com/KTN6r.jpg]

There's still quite a lot of stuff missing.
I think I'll make a little bamboo forest and some more interior stuff in addition to this.
Beautiful stuff mate, both the first shot and the second

Just brushed this one up, unfortunately it will never 'see the light of day'

Best of luck to you lads. I might add a single brush to my mosque map and release it for INS2!

Amended the OP. Please let me know if you guys have any problems with the map via PMs on either this forum or Uknownworlds, the developer's site: http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/
And thank you for the kind words thus far.

My Natural Selection 2 map release. This will be playable sometime today.
Edit: Sorry was inbetween classes and didn't get to add a proper OP. This thread is a tribute to Andrew Weldon (our very own KungFuSquirrel), who is the original author of NS1_Veil and who courteously allowed me to remake his map, not to mention just being a nice guy. I think I've done a good job at doing what any remake should do, honor the original, preserve the original, and elaborate. I hope you all will enjoy the new stuff in there as well as the old.
Please feel free to message me with any gameplay complaints.

The remake of de_dust and de_dust2 in this game, as well as de_aztec, are really classy and well done. It's a bit of a shame they didn't pay more attention to some of the other maps which were more or less straight ports, though.

demo defintely shows some influences (whether intentional or not) from a lot of obvious places, not that it's unoriginal, but rather it defintely shows these guys are gamers and movie fans and the put their whole heart into it and give some homage to other works. Most obvious things it reminded me of was Half Life (somewhat of a train ride in, a wrench for first weapon...) and of course Star Trek IV with the whale song and similar sound effects I thought I heard. And then there is the little "girl" monster...This level was a very "indoor" episode but still fun. I liked the basic gameplay of main weapon witih right trigger and plasmid with left trigger...got used to the controls quickly. I'd like to play more of it and hope there are some cool puzzles in this environment. Very interesting atmosphere.
ok off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
what kind of video game consultant thinks gordon freeman uses a wrench
you're cruisin for a bruisin

on an unrelated note I've been stuck in a timewarp since the 1960s and I've just come to the realization my entire family is dead

Like Shadow for example? (people who think they are good, but in reality are very shit).
No, I wasn't suggesting that people were shit. I was saying some people here aren't very accepting of people with less skill.
Indeed and I hate that.
People need to adjust the way they dish out the critism based on the level designers experience.
A new level designer usually busts his balls to make something, and when someone gives quite harsh feedback it can be a little off putting, and in someways offensive, since he poured so much time into it, he thinks his work is quite good.

You're not choosing a color, you're not committing to anything. I imagine you've kept your light_env a shade of white which means, generic lighting but not only that as dux mentioned no really noticeable and worthwhile contrast.
Make your light_env based on a single color or a shade between colors, orange, red, blue, green, whatever.
