yeah, for sure the logic of that statement is beginning to deteriorate as more good games come out for it. I guess I'm just being stubborn. Don't think Titanfall will be the game that pushes me over the edge, though.

Origin exclusive would probably be a deal breaker for me. I know it's hypocritical because of the success of steam, but the idea of having an entire platform for a single game just seems like a huge waste... (same reason I never really bothered with bf4)

That looks fantastic. Really brings out the best in the engine.
Only critique would be the use of the caution stripes in the atrium. The yellows are great in the scene but caution stripes have their own sort of identity and seem out of place in such a clean area and being used in such a fashion.

So when did 6v6 become a bad thing? Seems like a really weird "controversy", did people just expect this game to have huge player numbers or is it an expectation of all console FPS games?

I had a ton of fun playing this, I was so giddy lol. The fact that we can't load this up and play it on 100 servers is one of the things I hate about the move to matchmaking with CS:GO... Still, I love your work here, it really is fun.

Advanced calculus, physics, and even quantum mechanics all play an important role in level design. In my fantasies, that is.

I would also say that there is such a thing as having a low pressure gig, a gig that you can pay the bills in and fly under the radar. Its a lot like having a talk show at 3am in the morning, nobody is watching, nobody really cares, but if you are fine with cashing a check at the end of every month it might not be the worst thing in the world.
A lot of people can't eat. Just saying. (I don't recommend this kind of a job unless you're OK with flying under the radar, I myself probably wouldn't be, not really my style)

This sounds like a perfect time to find a hobby!
Nobody at your work gives a flying fuck, so neither should you since you've made the adequate efforts to improve the situation. Time to pick up chess, fitness, level design, fuck it play online poker at work. This is a time to grow yourself because your work environment is not going to be contributing to your personal growth.

Probably SSDO.
Not an expert on this topic. I can say that it looks a bit over subtle and toy-like, I have a feeling some darker shadows and a less subtle gradient might help that... obviously I'm a fucktard but this is just my opinion.

In-house engine looks cool but... no SSAO from the looks of things?

It's scary that I see myself in a friendly competition with you to make high quality CSGO maps and you're like on the verge of death here. Really eye opening. It's also a testament to your skills, I think.
Looking forward to the next installment. Just remember that Mapcore is like a little family and we're all watching and reading what you say and want you to get past this chapter of your life safely and soon.

I like that but the lighting is undermining what is cool about it. Bring some of the colors out and enrich them and scrap the blurry post-processing IMO

that Terra-cotta texture to the buildings is what you want I think

I wouldn't know where to start or how to describe it. I don't keep images of my development process so it would just be boring words

I do think the theme could be worked better though, I can't tell what this place is supposed to be. Is it a space station? A mining station? A research station back on Earth? The rooms serve no purpose, other than leading to other rooms. I could be wrong since I haven't played the map but that's the impression I get from the screenshots.
Don't get me wrong, the execution is spot on, I just think these maps could be worked better theme-wise, my 2 cents

Yeah I know, eclipse was never something easy to inject a theme into whilst at the same time keeping any semblance of balance to the map. That was one of the biggest development issues the map had. It's set in a skyscraper and is a tech facility. The last set of shots I have with the big gate is a teleporter that actually teleports anyone who walks through it a small distance away to a separate room.
These two aren't my work, just showing some other parts of the map. I need to learn how to take screenshots better like these two

I think looking through the map my biggest critique is not that a theme didn't exist, since the laser beams and skyscraper stuff were epic. It was more tha these themes were very isolated in little corners of the map when the development time and quality of the execution made me want to see them used much more in various other locations. One consequence in the end result is that once you leave those two big marquee areas it's more or less very similar sci-fi hallways (although beautiful, I would say "too much of a good thing")

It's a really nice copy+paste! Just kidding.
I got a chance to run around the map and thought it looked great and like it would be a lot of fun to play as well.
