In order to be a major mod you have to impress. In order to impress you have to have the whole package

I guess INS will deliver a more interesting gameplay and atmosphere with patches to complete that package?

Today's mods are too fixiated on graphics for my taste and I dunno, maybe you should build on good gameplay and not on graphics. I'd play that Golden Eye mod if it had some interesting gameplay/good DM even if it looks crappy.

In retrospect, I regret ever aiming for retail/professional standard with NW

Excuse me, but what is "NW"?

Does anyone even remember the stuff randomnine did back in the day? Canned Tuna? Turbo, the snark racing mod?

    BUT OF COURSE!

God I loved Turbo Taking my snark into the half-pipe like maps was great fun and with others even better.

  • How did you like the "YouTube Democratic Debate"?

After watching that boring flick "Babel" yesterday I watched some CNN and was surprised at the fresh approach on this debate, using YouTube user videos to pose questions for the democratic candidates.

It looks like you are able to watch the more or less full thing on http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/po ... ke.you.cnn

I liked it and it was pretty interesting, especially when they threw the three clips of one son feeding his mother, who's got alzheimer and is in a wheelchair and some woman or man who got cancer and pulled off his/her wig and the candidates faces heh.

I just watch far too much anime.

Hey, I killed my cat while waiting for the next Naruto episode...

If that was during the first season, then fair enough. But I'd have to punish you if it were for the second. (no where as good as the first right now...)

    It was... Shippuuden... *awaits punishment*

shppuuuden started to fail in terms of pacing after the first couple of episodes.

RO was completely new for me with the retail version I bought, so I cannot say much to that. But it doesn't matter if it's totally polished or not, INS is just lacking atmosphere, immersion and depth in my opinion. That and the maps are rather boring, gameplay wise. I know it's an early version, but nothing comes to mind that will change that much. I loved the in-game music option, but you disabled it in 1.1, for whatever reason!? I even added a couple songs I had and it felt like playing a mod taking place in Iraq.

One thing that bugs me about the lack of immersion is not the poor voice acting, but that you decided to use English voice commands for the insurgents and the complete lack of useful voice commands for other classes than the commander.

Even dod had voice commands in the respective native language in the first beta(s), or not? And it adds a lot and works both in dod and RO. That and that there is hardly any ambient sound on the maps (or is that just me!? All I remember is a single radio on almaden near objective B).

What version of RO? I hope the very first (of the mod) or else your point is flawed.

Why would his point be flawed? I had more fun with crappier versions of mods. INS is basically what cs once was, on source and in Iraq. Just that it's not new and pretty boring after a while. At least for me

Yea it's a good game and I don't doubt it can be fun if it's played with some voice com stuff (and pretty much own a pub because you have a better control of your weapons in comparison to css or dods and can kill people very quickly), but for me it doesn't bring the long time motivation RO has to offer with its variety of big maps and tank/inf maps.

Only map that kept me going back to INS a couple times is sinjar as US, but damn is the majority of players too dumb to run up to A at the beginning of the round.

I also think that it would be more interesting if different objectives could be taken the same time, like A and D on sinjar, making it more interesting for the INS team plus some more maps where the INS team got something to do other than defending with their unlimited reenforcements.

I dunno if it's the bad FPS, the morons roaming about or that INS is just pretty boring with their mainly linear or silly TDM "firefight" maps, but I haven't gone back to it lately and don't have the urge to do so.
