As far as i know you cant allign stuff like that in the uv map in that way. Try flatten mapping in the uvmap window (it's under one of the tabs).
For the second question - get your hands on some uvmapping allign tools. I recommend chugnuts. I'm not even sure if max has built in allign tools but i certainly can't find them.
You can get chugnuts here: http://www.chuggnut.com/scripts/unwrapt ... ptools.htm
Although the page has changed since i last viewed it i think the tools are the same. Unfortunatly he doesn't seem to include a install read me.
Anyway, what you would do is break off a pair of the vertices from that circle (right click - break) in the uv editor and drag them to the left. The lay them out in a line as with your other example. You can then select the top row of verts and allign them with chugnuts, doing the same with the bottom row next.
I can post further instructions if you need me too.
I enjoyed shooting the gunner's on the speedboats and being driven around by the drivers in the demo copy ![]()
What is the current state of the game?
I'm assuming there are quite a lot of bugs if the reaction to the announcement is anything to go by.
I seems a rather premature development that's for sure. All the more when you consider that probably 50% + of gamers won't have even been in a position to try their product untill their next gaming pc upgrades, which could lead to all sorts of unforseen problems with the new tech they might be using.
Quote from e-freakDidn't know where to post this as these shots aren't mine. I just came accross this most awesome Foto-Portfolio:http://www.bilder-factory.com/main.htm Impressing and Inspiring stuff
those are great
What happened to that nice rain in the ep2 graphics show case map?
I just just type 'tf' in the material search box and that does the job fine (except for things like sign overlays - it doesn't show the full list)
DVS could post a write up on how you used to make those perfectly alligned domes for HP?
I've always wondered how it was done and have never been able to recreate the effect satisfactorally.

I have this, 47 inch. I'm not sold on HD at all to be honest but regular DVD's definatly look blurry in comparision to bluray's on it.
I think bluray will be a dead format in a couple of years though due to it being the prefered format for no reason whatsoever + digitial distibution = future.
Oh and i actually really like the blue light myself.

I already have an account by that name but would prefer to continue posting from this one, just under the proper name.
Thanks.
How do people import valve meshes into max presently? I'm interested in checking out wires on a lot of them.
Stunning map sir - hope you win!
Make sure that:
- every shape in the collision model is a seperate editable poly
- each of these shapes / edit polys has a unique smooth group applied to it (eg if your collision model has 7 boxes then each one should have a seperate unique smooth groupbetween 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
- each box in the collision model has the model's texture applied to it (or at least a material with the same exact name as the one you had applied to your original model when you exported your SMD's
- each box is tied to the model's bone
Here is an example of one of my QC files that I know will work, assuming that you have made and exported all your files correctly.
Will this work with sven?
