yes like i said i will concentrate on the lighing last.
Im running and GF7 GTX so i dont have HDR and AA avaiable.
The sharpness is indeed made with the time of day control.
next time i will post screenshots with my lighing idea.

made the decals, particles and "occlusion" areas. its amazing how the fps went up.
but i wont add more details. its running on the latest config made by [HP] and runs good on very high. so it will run good on everyones else computer.

Map went just Beta and i coming along very nice. Time for an own thread.

Added some river as boundary and finished the vegetation set. Particles are in.
Now it's time for Item-Placement, decals and cloud setup.

It will be ready in ~10 days for final testing.

@Psychokiller: Yes the fog is thick at the moment but lighting will be the last thing I do. Its very flexible with the Time of Day feature.
The models are taken from the BF2 Mod I'm woorking on but new details will be added and they will be re-textured of course to match the CE² needs.
Didnt see you @ICQ for months!? New number?

Crytek/Intel Mapping Contest. Will be Deathmatch. Still a lot to do. The grey things need to be skinned and theres even no gras in the level.

I need a program which is able to read out my texture memory.
The amount of data which is currently loaded in my graphic card.
NVPerfHud can do it (along with other usefull things) but its locked for the game im mapping for (BF2).
So it delivers only fps and DCCalls.

wow nice u-boat!.

Im working on the abandoned sport-center for my poe² chernobyl map. have to texture it now. would like to include more details like lamps and pipes. we will see. bf2 is no hl2. hehe

i decided to do a CG-Version of the pool area itself with lots of more details and funky GI.

you can find the dl-links in many forums like polycount and so on.
i dont think its "restircted" but maybe he wishes to know how many people are interested in his program and subscribe.
its a very nice program he made there.

I think the Inquire had this info from a forum. As i browsed the forum threads and newspages as the news went around the web it found a posting where someone speculated that these textures are from Marlin Studios and he also posted a link.
in my opinion the "Inquirer" picked it up saw that "valve" and "activision" are on the client list and made a news from it. they had strange news before. its typical for the Inquirer.
There is no offical statement since the last news from GSC,id or valve.
look at the product page. maril studios doesnt mention impact effects or light-SFX images. you can take look at all the productdescription, thumbs or whatever they have on the page. you wont find anything that looks like the doom/quake4 style lightimages.
the stalker patch is still not out althought it was announced to out two weeks ago. i will take a look at the files again if it comes out and its likely that the images are overwritten with other images but the same filename.
this is still speculations and every newspage will make their own news from the Inquirer news but this shows that everyone has to stay sceptic what media tells the reader.

dont forget to add this to your mapobjects colection:

Hey, michi.be, why must you stick your big nose into other people's business?
Even a man with a small nose would have found this stuff.

I just took a quick look around of the textures they used (to use them in my d3 mod *kidding*) how big the skins are, shader stuff and so on.
As working with the Doom3 engine for years the stuff jumped into my eyes.
My intention is not or was never to harm GSC. They made a great game and i still enjoy it.
But i asked myself why mod-projects have been closed by lawers because they used a wrong name like a duke-mod or stargate/ starwars stuff.
On the other hand companies are spending a lot of money into copy-protections but dont have the money or resources to make some simple lightimages themself or take the time in 6 years of development to remove them so they are not left over? this was my intention in posting it here. i always look at files/structure of games im interesting in doing stuff for. you can learn nice things and get new ideas how to do stuff in other engines.

Im sure this was an accident. so please dont hunt me with forks or burn me on a pile of wood. :-7

Welcome to last year guys
lol this one is good.

crazybump is a really good tool. the displacement function works quite well.
but i still prefer to edit my diffusemap a bit, making it b/w plus some fiddling around makes it working even better.

its spreading like hell on german gamesites too.
this was not intended.

As i just posted in a doom3 related forum.
I browsed the stalker .db" files with this new extract tool which is around.
I saw that they are using doom3 lightimages.
for the people which own both games can compare the "lights" folders.
I'm wondering if the russian guys got the permission for using them.
As a hobbyist i think its not that fair. If i'm using textures from another game without having the big money in mind i will get mails from a lawer or someting like that. even if i only want to do a cool level.
here are two comparsion shots:
stalker light-folder:

doom3 light-folder:

aevirex: the playermodel is not that hight as it seems on the shot because my toon shader extends lines over the model boundaries so it looks a little bit more handdrawn.
sindwiller: i cant speak the russian language or have an idea of their alphabet. all i hadwas an ukrainian alphabet from wikipedia and this reference shot: http://pix.fine.kiev.ua/egor/pic/0007p8h4
maybe i missed something but it looked ok for me.

pripyat hotel. still wip with messed up toon shader lines.
