Judging by the cover of the sourced magazine, I'm not so sure this is true.

Let's hope that the same emotional impact is carried out through the actual game, because that was fantastic.

In light of creating a whole bunch of models and textures to fit a Romanesque theme, I was wondering how some of you guys approach the creation of texture sets. Really, I'd like to find out a bit of info on how textures in a set can be created to complement each other in terms of style, colour scheme, etc.

I've changed CPUs several times over the years and Windows doesn't give a shit.

So we switched back to BC2 and the same sorta thing was happening. I got shot from around 30 metres away by a guy with the Spas shotgun. Wtf?
Lucky them. Whenever I use the shotgun on someone, they return fire, kill me, and then I see them run away with <10% HP. It's like they're mocking me.
Also, yay for real-time radiosity!

Someone recommend some good in-ear headphones for around £50.

Thanks. I already made a start on writing my thought process for each item on my portfolio but unfortunately I'm making slow progress due to other commitments.

I think Filip did a good job using videos to explain the thought process behind his work. Of course, this isn't something that can be achieved by everyone but I think that dedicating a page to each of your levels explaining why you did certain things would be good to do.

Another new memory format. Fucking hell, Sony. When will you ever learn?

I'm not exactly sure why but Lightmass just looks a lot more appealing to my eyes then the radiosity in Source.

No demo for PC. No reason specified.

I truly don't understand why you did the side-menu in Flash instead of HTML/CSS...but I like the work and I'm slightly jealous at how much better your Lighthouse model is compared to the one I made.

Hah. I had the same issue with DiRT 2 which I bought from the Steam sales. I tell you, I was fucking horrified to see GFWL included once I booted up the game.

I watched it and it wasn't that bad. It seemed a lot fairer then I thought it would be.

Oh wow. That screenshot on the last page is spectacularly awful.

Now I am attempting to render a normal map out using PhilipK's tutorial. Following his tutorial to the tee produces lovely results. However, the same method doesn't work with cylindrical meshes.

Here is my lovely mesh.

And I'm projecting this onto an identically sized cylinder and this is what happens.
[Blocked Image: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12589538/normal-2.jpg]
Now, it's clear that the faces of the low-poly cylinder is being rendered in the map along with high poly one. The low poly cylinder is at the same origin as the high poly cylinder because moving the low poly one anywhere else (also) renders a funky as hell texture.
So how can I hide the low poly cylinder when I'm rendering the other one to a texture? Or am I doing it completely wrong?

How does one add a second UV channel to a model?

I'd agree with the noisiness of the textures. It makes it really harsh on the eyes.

It still amazes me how immature the majority of CoD players are. I was playing Cod4 yesterday and 90% of the chat that are saw featured 'noob' or 'fag' or INTERNET-TOUGH-GUY-WORD. I guess that playing TF2 which, arguably, seems to have a more mature audience, has made me forget how many outspoken idiots play multiplayer games. I know I should just ignore it but, honestly, no wonder why gamers get such a bad rap when the most outspoken just spout abuse all the time.
