I agree with Step. Also I noticed when I don't have inspiration it comes from thinking to complex. Sometimes by just starting on something with creating some basic shapes, the inspiration will kick in automatically.

Another thing that really helps is gathering reference, I'm always amazed how a small detail in a photo can end up in the inspirational spark you needed.

Facing worlds is one of my favorites too.

Also several maps that were created by 3d_mike, de_predator, cs_bikini, de_survivor, de_747 etc.

De_dam by 2d_chris The snow environment with the massive dam, such an amazing map.

I really enjoyed some old DOD levels too, like Caen, where the player could use the collapsed buildings to flank the enemy. And Avalanche, the vertical gameplay was amazing in this one.

    Quote from blackdog

Difference is that GTA is so much else. The rampages (which I take occasion to remember to everyone that were rewarded in earlier chapters) act as the release that gamers need after being on edge after a few missions. it's not the focus of the gameMaybe but it's pretty violent still. You even have to torture a guy in one of the missions of GTA V. Same in sleeping dogs btw.

I have the feeling this is more a hatred against the studio than the violence of the game. Yeah it doesn't look that good, but give them a break it's an indie studio. Also some are saying the developers are neo-nazis or coming from the dark side of the moon or whatever. Really since when do we care where developers are coming from? This starts to sound more and more like politics, dig up the dirt and try to stop them in anyway possible.. I will buy a copy now for sure, just to support the developers.

it's a game, nothing more... I don't understand why this is different from GTA, where you can kill as many innocent people as you want without doing any mission.. Or PAYDAY where you kill like dozens of cops, and these cops would never die if you didn't rob that bank. I think it would be very bad to ban these kind of games, just because some people might be triggered to actually shoot up a neighborhood... Would be better to worry more about how these people are able to get weapons than about a simple piece of entertainment.

  • How do I keep being motivated to finish projects?

I agree, it's more about discipline than motivation. What works for me is to set goals and test often. The magic of testing is that people can provide you with valuable feedback to improve your level. Or maybe if you're stuck on something they can give you some fresh ideas. Make sure to set realistic goals though, there is nothing more frustrating to not reach a goal. But if it happens learn from it and do it better next time.

Looks good but lighting is a bit flat. Would try some different settings for the ambient to add a bit more depth.

Trance, great movie. Transformers age of extinction not so much, way to chaotic.. With the amount of plots they used in this movie, they could easily made another 3 movies out of it.
