Yeah, I am really keeping an eye on the amount of destruction. But keep in mind that I planned on the middle of the bridge having the most destruction and this building is in the dead center, so its going to be the MOST destroyed one in the map.

What about this then? (obviously not done detailing rubble wise, but you get the idea)

AND MY LAST FUCKING IMAGE WAS UPLOAD HOUSE YOU PEWP

A tiny update. I am still trying to figure out how valve gets their interiors so well lit without ANY light casting entities.

EDIT: I figured it out

Since I am the noob of the bunch here, I'll bite -- what makes it looks so bad?
-Very visible fog that doesn't match the skybox
-Ugly exterior texture choice
-Dull lighting
-Close to zero destruction in the map
-Conflicting themes in some areas (Italian architecture/industrial)
-Open areas with nothing interesting in them

I dig that concept, a lot, but damn, that map is pure ass

In my map I built the horizontal wood portions out 4 units or so
AND FUCKING
UPLOAD HOUSE DOT COM
I dont think I can afford that, as I am already at 800 solids and the bridge isnt even close to being done.
Quote from Gorionthe huge hole needs to made in 2 holes, or atleast make something that holds the roof up high at the point of the building
everytime i see that building, i think wow, when does it collapse
Do you think that whenever you see the allied spawn in Avalanche?

It fails at realism.[Blocked Image: http://www.hobak.de/Bilder/Fachwerkhaus/Fachwerkhaus3.jpg]
oh wait, it's dods anyway

That doesnt help, at all. I am just building off what I see in Valve made maps, so tell me guys, how would I go about making this more realistic?
-
Alright, I am confused, how would I go about making this as realistic as possible. Is it only bad mainly because of my texture choice? Or what should I do?

may want to take a look at dod_ludendorf (sp?) -- was based on the "bridge too far" bridge. In the map, the bridge has a level underneath the main bridge. It's been a relatively successful map based on a concept similar to yours.
Link?
Well anyways, I spent an hour or so detailing one building in my map (got tired of orangemapping) and it was also sort of a test. Now realize there is no debris models, and no displacement debris on the ground yet, so that will be all over in the final version. But here it is:

It does its job hahaha

Ahhh, but I still dont like it

But your map is inside/underground, not outside in an open street. Thats why it doesn't fit.

They are all unedited entirely (except for image size) and before you go complaining, I know that the 4th shot needs the wires clone tooled out, but I didn't want to do that just yet so that I could say they are all unedited the first time around. But if this was for a portfolio or something, I would edit them out most definitely.
