    Wow, that sounds... pretty shitty.

It's weird that the game ended up being so good despite all that BS (according to MapCorians/reviews, I haven't played it). With that development process, you would think that they'd end up with something more akin to Duke Nukem Forever.

I was pretty excited for this game at some point, but that enthusiasm has faded over time and now I'm not too interested any more to be honest.

dunno who told you that but it's complete bullshit

For home users that is (should have clarified that). It was the reason, or excuse, why BC2 never got a level editor/SDK.

Now, I can only find a quote about Frostbite 1, so I may have jumped to conclusions. I know your General Manager has said the tech is staying within EA in any case.

Perhaps you can enlighten us? Would an SDK/level editor release be viable?

    Quote from Gordon Van Dyke

"This version of Frostbite just really doesn't support (modding)," Van Dyke explains. "The way our tools are setup for Frostbite currently - this isn't the plan for the future - it's all within a network structure, so we have servers, a network farm, hard drives all over the place, caching systems. For the development team it's not even a realistic thing to try to pretend we could put out. So we just bit the bullet and were honest and were like, 'This is not something we can do with this game.'"

    Highly unlikely, if not impossible.

The tech, as I understand it, is not very simple/user-friendly and they are primarily focused on using it within EA. They have said, somewhere, that they do not intend to license it as Epic/CryTek/Valve do with their engines.

I've now spent a solid 2 hours trying to get past this point at the dead city and its just not happening. 1 filter 18 assault rifle round about 12 pistol rounds and at least 14 of those monsters. Cool game but its getting shelved, at least temporarily.

As D3ads says, it really sounds like you should replay from the last station and stock up a lot more on ammo. I forgot to do it the first time but luckily, I realised it just as I had left and didn't lose any real playing time. I'm hoping Last Light will be a bit more intuitive and player friendly and more polished overall. One of my major disappointments in Metro 2033 was the story, which I don't think was particularly well-executed.

I've just finished Crysis 1 and I'm now playing New Vegas. Like Metro 2033, it's another un-polished post-apoc game Crashes a bit too often and the presentation has quite a few rough edges (graphics, gnaaaah!!!). Still, it's been quite fun so far and I'm really role playing my character; an afro-american wasteland survivalist. I roam the wasteland in well-worn leather armour and a trusty lever-action rifle, helping out where I can.

I just finished Crysis 1 again. I love that game!*

Hopefully this will be released just after I'm done with Warhead so I can continue my Crysis-marathon with improved graphics (got new rig now too!)

    It's still looking pretty cool.

But man... Tim Willits talks PR as if everyone was a three year old.

Also, every question he hears is a "great question".

I've always wanted to play a game where the USA is the enemy for a change in a fictional timeline... (World In Conflict/Homefront flipped around). I've yet to see a single-player game do this.. it would be refreshing to shoot US marines or rangers for once. I don't have anything against the US military or anything (apart from some major fuckup operations..) but I just think it's about time someone went there. Sure the Daily Mail and Fox would cry blood like they always do.. but no one ever gives a shit about that anyway.Failing that, I'd like to see a Blood 3!

It would be a nice change of pace and I've actually wanted a game where you play as an insurgent in Iraq... some cool gameplay-opportunities there.

I get why people are worried that Kyd isn't scoring this one, his soundtracks added a lot of style to the games and are a huge part in the identity of the series. However when it comes to Bateson then I think he had so few lines in previous games that people are really overreacting.

I gotta agree here. While Bateson didn't do a bad job, it was a bit on the generic side. Kyd's shoes are harder to fill but I trust IO can find someone worthy.

Keith Carradine is badass btw, loved him in Dexter.

The rally's get longer as you get into the later seasons and world tours, there's none longer than about 3 minutes though, it was decided a while ago that 3 minute stages are about right in terms of length for the average player who doesn't want to sit through 10 minute races

Yeah I understand that Xbox-kids have the attention span of a 5 year old.

Nah but seriously I understand the reasoning and it is was what I expected the answer to be.

If your engine allows it size-wise, couldn't you create, for example, a map consisting of 3 stages in a row and then let players to enable "long races" and these will be transformed into a single long stage?

    Please? For me?

Yup, I hate GFWL too but in this game it was surprisingly non-intrusive... except for one issue.

Early on, I had a problem where the game stuttered every 2 minutes. Apparently that is precisely the interval at which GFWL connects to the main server to do... some shit or something.

When playing without GFWL I did not experience the problem (but you can't save and you have to recreate your profile everytime you want to play...). Someone recorded the issue here.

I have no idea what happened but this issue just disappeared after a few days.

Been playing this a bit... is it just me or is everything non-rally incredibly boring?

I'm a big fan of the visuals, the driving feel and that they cut out all the BS-talk (yay!).

I find that rallys are a bit on the short side though. When my co-driver says "... into finish" I'm just getting started, dammit!
