weather and the major tourism is heading south at that time.

the space odysee reference is sooooooo far fetched
(gj penE on pushing the project so far

well I only "critizied" what i circled red and that seems to be all photoshop related stuff then (as you said the bg is pp.) it's not a big deal for a "fun" photography but imagine you are doing shots for some kind of pr-campaign you'd have to think about the background implantation and that's why im pointing it out here. it's nothing wrong with just pasting some background in but it really helps a lot if you think about exact layermasks or fill options (easy multiply or add + rough layermask would have done the job already). It's nitpicky to point it out maybe but I'd rather have a bunch of critics than a class full of people who don't see it at all.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3084/310 ... f14174.jpg - the ceiling is kind of weird broken and the walls could use some vertical break horizontal bar) but maybe that's just me

wow then it's a big fail on my side

but please give some insight on that background because it looks totally wrong on my computer o_O

lighting is great, brushwork and texturing could use some second go (mainly details afaik tell from those tiny screenshots)

take the public transport, esp considering our gas-prizes

i'd try to see the bigger cities (for germany: Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin and Köln) and some smaller towns on the trip - for the above it could be something like Frankfurt - Bad Soden/Darmstadt/Wiesbaden, Hamburg - Kiel/Lübeck/Bremen, Berlin - Leizpig/Wittenberg/Dresden, Köln - Bielefeld/Dortmund/Bonn.
You may also think about what you expect to see: If you're interested in european history you might just travel (again Germany as example) Berlin, Potsdam, Bonn, Weimar and Frankfurt, if you're more into art you might check out Köln, Berlin, München, city-life you may check out the same as for art plus Hamburg and Frankfurt and if you're looking for what the typical real life is you may just skip all of these, join some mapcorians in smaller towns, see some of the pubs and bars, some of the Mittelgebirge, while coolest places for Landscapes might be Mecklenburgsche Seenplatte, Elbsandsteingebirge, the Alps, some Mittelgebirge and the baltic coast.
Depends also on how much time you've got and what part of europe you want to see - it seems more and more tourists are coming to poland, russia, ukraine, hungary, while the majority of tourists only travel within the boundaries of 1989 (France, Italy, Germany and GB).

it seems you pasted the background lines in with ps and it's not done very well. the shadow has obvious seems, the lines are blurry and the shadow doesn't interact with those lines (it's either shadow or background but no merging here)

the foreground shopping is pretty nice but the background shop lacks so much it hurts. c'mon you can do better! good job on the lightning anyway (some good plasticity in that face).

Though the company remains tight-lipped on the number of units sold through their wildly popular digital distribution network Steam, they've decided to divulge their retail sales numbers [...]
This doesn't reflect the Steam purchases which are estimated by something like 1/8 (of ALL PC-Game purchases in 2008) last rumor I heard of.

you have a soundcard and an onboard chip? make sure it's plugged in the right one and if needed disable one of them (soundcard remove or onboard disable via bios)

yeah it's 50/50 and valve didn't charge for source and steam usage so it's a pretty good deal, esp. considering garry no has something like 1,6 million $.

making of the trailer:

pretty good insight and you can see how the game itself developed during these shots...

I've no clue but as Warby mentioned it's alot of BS Consuming involved in most christmas presents. Though Hessi presented some good ones with thought. I had a creative phase like that last year but I seem to be unable to come up with anything this year.
Grandparents will most probably both get the same present as always, mum, dad, 2 sisters, gf and maybe some friends could get something.
Oh and I'm currently planning a short animation about consumerism on christmas for university project but I'll just open another thread for that I suppose.

afaik SVN doesn't work on FTP Protocolls. But I'dn't bet as I didn't do any SVN setup in the last 2 years.
