That Quake 1 Engine is called Build Duke Nukem

Quakis: Please host somewhere else. Imageshack either refuses to load or will put so much JS on the picture that every Ad block will hide it...

edit: got it working - it's too clean, thus the colors are too much. Try to work on the color sheme and add some structure to these walls (break up horizontally). also make that window stand out much more if possible. I'd expect it too have atleast 30 cm of depth into the wall at that scale. The reflections look fake too, don't know if you did the good ol' half-life approach of mirroring the bsp and making the floor translucent or if it's source horrible cubemaps, but i'd definitally tone down these or remove them completely. and those bulbs look kinda out of place. can't really tell what they are doing. if they are lights then make them lights by increasing dynamic range in that scene and disable them being shadowed them selves. the pillars (red part) could do with a better end on the top part. right now they are popping into the square stone too much.

cool stuff none the less keep up the good work

    crappy paint over:

if you shot in raw or made multiple exposures of the same image at various shutter speeds you could do tone mapping on these to brighten up the darker areas and darken the brighter areas (in short) - the trick is to increase the images information artificial to come close to what the human eye can see but is too light-contrasty for the camera.

i like the last one - the first two seem to be turned a few degrees due to the horizontal misallignment which turns it off a little bit imho, maybe that's because the horizontal line isn't straight in the pictures though. nr 2 could have used some dynamic range increase it seems as the sun really burns out the upper left part while the darker areas tend to swim. great shots none the less and well the weather is phenomenal

  • MP level design for conosles: whats different from PC

less noise and more readability. while it helps a pc-multiplayer-level to have a good readability, the avg pc-gamer sits 45cm away from his screen and can see really fast what's happening. A console gamer might be sitting on his sofa, the tv 2 meters away. readability is the key he's still able to play a fast-paced game.

A well shot Action-Shot on a multiplayer level or single player mission will always work well, because it shows that your level is being played and can be played plus it will show some (basic) skills in video-montage and editing.

Well just yesterday we did some shorts for university with minor stunts and beat-up situations. While it's supposed not to hurt it really does. I can imagine that if Bale did some action in that shot he's pretty pissed if he has to do it again just because some idiot doesn't know his job. Pretty epic, could imagine something like this in the next Scarry Movie Part

it's digital ware and will sell multiple units without multiple work so I assume 35$ * x is an ok price. after all you want to sell these and as long as you don't sell so many that you can be sure there's a solid market/demand really checking out these you shouldn't be raising prices.

just my opinion from an economical point of view, the artwork is great and I'm not to judge what it's worth.

are these shadows baked/photosourced? would decrease the value imo alot and wouldn't be that much work in photoshop really.

    typography doesn't match topic.

if you're trying to put it in "oldschoolesq" theme then do the same for the font. Monospace letters, bitmap representable fonts...

I like the idea but i'm not sure if it will help the presentation because after all you add alot of noise to the displayed informations. also don't like the bevel'd text in the lower part of the screen, just go for something like an old brand sign or add it to the text part as next command line input (kinda like: : |)

had roulade today. 24h of cooking to get it top notch delicate. filled with tomato mark, mustard and some mixed stuff. potatoes cooked, pealed and oven dried and green beans in tomato-basilicum cooked. use the roulade water to extract some sauce with pepper and fried onion extracts. served with carrot-salad, refined with an apple per pound carrots and citron-sugar sauce (no mayonaise, ruins the lightness of the salad). for desert: vanilla pudding with melted chocolate couverture and pears in sugar-water bedded. wiener herrentorte (marzipan layers, vanilla-wine-cream layers and fine sliced cake batter bottom, all wrapped in chocolate coating) as cake...

i got to admit my father did most of the cooking though, he's a born kitchen chief... it's a good change to the usual university kitchen or the 15 minutes pizzas. it's good fun to work in the kitchen with friends and family but cooking for yourself only is not very satisfying...

    Quote from Zacker

Sounds great and a really nice move from Epic considering the age of the game.

well the game isn't really old... the good devs support games for 10 years at least

great move. just registered mine on steam and dl now. really never cared about the patches as i was only toying with the editor and automatic updating sounds absolutely awesome.

LD is everything from planning to beauty pass. Might be splitted however into Enviroment Artist, Game/Gameplay Designer, AI Scripter, FX Designer and Modeller (or as Wiki references: Mapper).

Its UnrealEd4 afaik but the Engine is UE3. It's pretty easy to grasp the basics of UE3 and well you don't need no modelling to learn these. Be advised though that it can be helpful and later on is most likely required to do modelling.

Frames for the Windows (and the doors if they don't have any)

looks good. Add something like a central Fire which can be seen from anywhere in the map to help navigate around

well it's an open "secret" microsoft has invested into apple over the last few years and bought stocks to gain influence (see bootcamp development etc). i'm not so surprised they are using these for development as these systems are normed (in opposite to PCs which can have endless numbers of HW configurations)...
