hehe the new plot is damn cool and well I loved the first one, really one of the must-see movies of the last decade for every action-fan. best scene ever was the motorcycle balancing with "everybody's talking at me" playing in the background.

The Shipfight is too linear (Combine Wave, Combine Wave, Shipfight) – would have been more interesting/appealing if there was a Combine Wave during the Shipfight and (at least for me it didn't) if the Gunship would fly from all sides to the battleside and not just from above the gate. Also would have been nice if some of the rebels joined later as they were all dead by the time the ship arrived.
Also big no-go (but not too bad seeing this is only meant as a sequence in a larger game) is the gate being one of the major puzzles but you never get to go through it as well as first thing you see being the boat but you not gonna drive it. As Gabe Newell states it ”You can't show a bomb to the player and not have it blow”.
Pretty cool was the connection/resemblence of the different parts of City 17 – the canals, the motorway-tunnels, the housing areas and the ruins to fight in. For a 20 minutes playtime that was really well achieved and put together.
The lighting was a little irritating in spots, e.g. The man hacker's hole in the ceiling of the tunnel was so bright plus given the fact that there seemed to be a possibility climbing up there I wondered if you were supposed to get up there (following the light) (and I really liked the effect of that very spot for eye-candy
).Sometimes the textures used were completely black (model-textures on brushwork?) but I assume that kind of things happen. Presentation was good over all, the dialogues were ok but could be a little more dramatic and it would be nice if NPCs like the very first rebel-guard you get to see would actually share a word or two and not just stand there, but that's nitpicking.
(just quoted from the doc I filled out)
yes and performence dropped a few times but nothing too bad and the ending was really apprupt - alyx didn't even turn around

well the usual: go for silouette, try to break down to only the really important and distinguishable details and work out which color represents what, how contrasts work and what shapes imply what meaning. yes and pixelating is the way to go.

is there no hillsides around there you live or why don't you have gears on that bike?

well everyone with tight deadlines should concern the valve-time. no worries then.
bit more serious: that's one huge benefit of working indy/semi-independent. as long as you can afford it no one will get you into any stress.

Get: The Hows and Whys of The Games Industry by Sjoerd de Jong (Hourences), apply for an internship at all random studios in Stockholm (there are quite a few), you don't have to bad chances, with a nice map in the portfolio. Learn modelling and texturing (or at least basic knowledge in 3Ds Max and Photoshop). You can also pick up the course of studies Nurb (?) and the guys from Decadence-Mod were/are in ( http://dsu.iki.his.se/web/ ).

Lightning is not lighting
Lighting would be suns and bulbs and stuff, Lightning is the phase-difference-electric-pulse that is seen during thunderstorms or when you play with electronics. -
I don't have one myself (anymore, used to have some Logitech thing), but two of my friends who are into car-simulation use Logitech Momo Wheels with self-build pedals and gears, afaik the wheels were bought in 2006.

well i've been doing some minor photography jobs for language centers and car selling (and simmilar easy jobs) (and I even did a photo-book once but that was only printed once for myself as I helped the printing company with adjusting the software) which brought me some money but it's nothing about the big money and i doubt you can make a fortune with photography you sell over the internet.
you can always just try to put your stuff on deviant-art, promote it a little and hope someone will buy it, but it's simmilar to making money with custom maps.
well and if you want to deliver for larger prints (equivalent if you work as photographer or just sell prints of your pics via some random internet service) you will have to look into better equipment most probably as resolution and image-quality won't be enough.

wow that's one nice hell of a picture
really love the lighting, the aspect ratios, the color, the contrast and the cam distortion towards the ceiling and the low ground... dunno if you could crop it a little on the left to achieve a perfect symmetry but well that could kill the "this is a real foto look". -
haha, that's somewhat the happiest, funniest and most awesome-non-action movie trailer i've seen in a long time

Quote from Thrik
Would be cool if they did something like the second series of 24 where he's all dishevelled, retired, and fucked up, but ultimately has to return to the job for some compelling reason. Then the Max Payne theme kicks in after the first chapter as he emerges from the bathroom after having a shave, and puts on his leather coat.

Lost? (bearded jack)

ye heavily depends on connection speed and lag. I can see this becoming a major thing in NA and EU in like 8 years from now, and the standard in 16 years but heck that's a long time to go
