one of the first posts on the new Crymod - I love the SDK release and what the community starts doing with it!

I'd love to join but I don't even have worldcraft installed atm

someone has a quick walkthrough what to keep in mind when installing worldcraft?

awesome and congrats!!!

Dunia is (as far as I can tell) just CryEngine 1 with additional support for the effects they needed. The Quake to GoldSrc relation might fit it, although the changes are even more just aesthetical.

ah ok... my folder was called addon (without the s) hence it didn't work.

the physics/technique has been around for quite a while and i remember reading first reports on lytro (or whatever they used to be called back then) two years ago. nice to see this getting to mass market quality. personally I'm not yet convinced to how much use it will be and how much it will contribute.
the change from analog to digital brought us a lot of advantages in photography, but it also brought us the "wheeee" girls taking hundred photos of the same object and wondering why they are still not getting image composition right or exposure controlled. If lytro ends up the same, that it makes things easier for a few good photographers but leaves the entire rest of humanity with even less understanding of the actual process of making a good picture.

Combine dungeon keeper with overlord (but with better combat).

yeah pretty cool. 1 minor crit is the lack of atmosphere because there's no music or obvious ambient noise in the outside areas. visually it feels busy but audio wise its sounds dead.
this. also: especially the travel to that bunker feels really corridory. Two things I would add: Revolver or Crossbpw with little ammunition (cause sometimes you have serious distances to the enemies, especially the first three combines). second: during the more "natural" part of the corridor, making the path a little wider and splitting it into two different height levels would add a lot of more open feeling and could add to allow different gameplay styles (as of right now it's still pretty much straight forward shooting).
the atmosphere in the camp is great!
the walking around to the bunker is great! (but make that entrence to the envy tunnel more readable)
the idea with the combine throwing the grenade back is cool!

No NDAs involved: Mirror's Edge 2
The other two game ideas I'm chewing on are well, NDA

looks cool
is the whole transition between areas (bedroom and island) in the engine? -
having seen quite a few campaigns, here's what I'd have done:
Release two or three really high-quality screens, maybe a short cutted teaser with great actual content.
as soon as everyone starts going hooray on it, release another picture, with a "failure signal" in it, that hints toward the whole ARG-thing. do that on every portal/community you want to participate. adding communities later will not work as you won't get people into the right mindset later.
Now make a post saying, "here' something for you: our latest update... signal error, binary code, what ever". people might want to check out what it is about. If you deliver great content (this time maybe something second source like concept art) it will get people interested in a long term update.
then, and only then you can stretch it. Starting out in one community by just binary linking to a blog it take ages to understand, will only lead to frustration and confusion.
I'm very much looking forward to your release later, see what you got there.
