  • Anyone goin to NYC?

    • Orpheus
    • March 1, 2011 at 5:16 PM

It's all good bud. I think what the problem is, is that I've been to almost every freakin where and the appeal of seeing "CITIES" just isn't there. Never really was I guess since I grew up in Phoenix and that's a city that no one will doubt is large and visit worthy.

I reckon I said my part, as negatively as that may have been seen.

I still suggest parks as an alternative. Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Arches, or even Niagra (even though its just water falling continuously)

    Anywho's

Damn guys. I sure hope that you all don't use that sort of mind set helping people with other things.

I'll grant that I concentrated on the bad stuff, but there was a fair portion of positives intermingled, not to mention a few jokingly parts.

Whether he is going there or not wasn't the question HE asked. He ask us if we were.

Since you guys are so handy at handing out advices, take some as well. Learn to read the posts in their intended fashion. I meant no harm and felt it my duty to pass on the negative since everyone was painting it with a rosy brush. Beginning a conversation with someone you have never conversed with before with a broad spectrum "Idiot" isn't exactly the best course.

Anywho's. He asked us. Next time I'll consider what you guys might want me to say, and post what I intended to anyway.

    Thanx

Orpheus the mayor has been trying for years to tax any vehicle in Manhattan area that isn't a taxi or a bus. .

Gods.. even at an incredibly low tax like 10 cents they'd make a fortune.

Still, I was posting my viewpoint. The fact that a visitor might not frequent the same locations is irrelevant because you'd prolly have to traverse the areas at some point in your travels.

As far as bad places/cities. I don't think any are immune. It would take weeks to discuss them all I suppose but at this point we're discussing NYC.

It is my humble opinion that if someone is going to go to all the trouble to visit the US, that a city, any city should not be the driving force.

Let me reiterate just in case you guys are still confused. I started driving semi back in 97. Since that time I have never met any driver who would willingly deliver to NYC. I have never met any driver who has heard of anyone who would willingly deliver there. In fact, we get hazardous duty pay to try to get us to do so. If we go there, we have standing orders to never come to a complete stop after nightfall due to the fact that any semi can be incapacitated by cutting the airlines.

That said, I have nothing personally against the peoples for the most part, but my experiences there have been anything but rosy.

If anyone thinks otherwise, that's your opinion.. BUT unless you've actually had to deal with the worse areas, you cannot really say I am mistaken.

If you are still willing to argue, do so on your own since I already said my piece.

To the guy whom originally asked the question: I apologize for the juvenile comments..Truly. There are much better places to see and visit, but in the end the choice is yours. It would be a shame if everyone lead you to believe that you won't see anything bad and you got hurt.

Careful bud, you don't know me well enough to draw any conclusions. About my replies, I am posting exactly what I think and/or know. If you have a different view of that nasty city, post it, but I know for a fact what I am posting is true.

I reckon it would depend on the type of restaurant. I'd wait to see how the other patrons handle it. Then cut loose.

Shit dood, if I were gonna visit this country, there are many alternatives to NYC. Before I'd come all this way, I'd make plans for something along the lines of the Grand Canyon. If you come all the way to the US and don't see at least that great big hole, you'll kick yourself in the ass forever after.

So, anyone got any cool tips. Sightseeing and shit. Food? White castle is a must for me since im a burgeraholic

I go there work based so you can imagine why I have nothing good to say about the place. That said, there are shitloads of things to do. I'd suggest the museums. From what I have heard nothing compares.

On the other hand, you might want to beat up some bums, assuming that's your cup of tea. There are bunches of those too.

    Perhaps a prostitute or three?

Seriously, The place is supposed to have some great sights. Sadly I see the seedier side of it all and have nothin good to say experience wise.

One bit of advice though, if someone talks to you really loud and cusses a lot do not take offense. Its a local custom and you are expected to do likewise in return. Don't get personal and talk about wives or mothers, but being a son-of-a-bitch and fuckyou is perfectly exceptable as long as its said in an offhanded way.

For instance: Bad weather I see.. Ahh fuckyou, you shoulda seen it back in 08.. That son of a bitch was a kicker..

All I can say is I wish they would bulldoze it over and start again. Its awful..

I hope you have fun, and get back with us (assuming you survive) and tell us how it was. I'd be curious to see if the shine has dulled any.

    You mean by choice?

I cringe every time I have to go to that nasty city.

Good luck, you're gonna need it.

millions of people died in the holocaust. therefore the holocaust was fun.

I think that if we continue along the lines of his reasoning that since a billion people in China haven't even heard of his game then I suppose it no longer exists. So much for him playing it now. Fucking Chinese ruined his fun.

LOL, really? I'm not going to answer this.

It wasn't argument inducing. It was conversationally based. Millions play with their food daily. That's not fun. Millions used to think it was acceptable to play with little kids ... I don't think the kids thought it was very fun.

My point however is, how do millions of people doing something necessarily equate to something? If I were gonna prove a point that a given game is fun, I'd NEVER use other people's opinion to win my argument. I'd win it all by myself or not attempt to convince anyone otherwise.

Tell that to the millions playing it!,,,,:

I hate to point this out but since when does millions of people playing something equate to "Fun"?

I'd personally like to see another Heretic and Hexen released. Id software seems to be slacking. Doom 3 was ok, but I expected a Heretic 3 and Hexen 3 as well to follow with the old times.
