I ran a door competition once. There were some nice entries if I recall.

There is something to be said for keeping a competition simple.

Just an idea for the competition goal. With the talk about the black mesa thing it got me to thinking about an old subject from years back. I think a good competition would be to take a hand full of old HL1DM maps and convert them to HL2DM.

Now the guide lines would be something like:

    * If you tried to improve a killbox to another killbox you'd get small kudos.

    * If you tried to improve a moderate map and made it excellent, you'd get medium kudos.

    * If you tried to improve an excellent map and SUCCEEDED to improve it noticeably, you'd prolly win.

But the bottomline would be for the judges to pick out a hand full of maps (After perhaps a voting period to reduce 100 to say 10) and have everyone work off those maps. Of course you may end up with 10 very similar maps if the same map were chosen, but the odds are against it because we all have our own priority viewpoint.

Anywho's I think a competition where you actually pit yourself against one another in a close proximity situation would turn out something grand.

Especially since a couple early KFS map need redone. *snickers* You know my fondness for you Andrew.

I know at least one of the guys working on this. We have not discussed it in a very long time but I can ask him if he has anything news worthy to share. Chances are though, there is nothing new or he would have told me.

    I'll get back to'yas.

You guys do realize that no matter how long its delayed for testing that we'll still find reasons to gripe about this or that don't'cha?

I ain't ever seen a game glitch proof yet. Shit look at Singularity. The freaking fires cannot even burn in the right orientation.. How much testing overlooked that one.

Anywho's.. Its worth the wait methinks.

I dunno what you guys are arguing about anyway. Everyone knows that the glowing fish will give us ample warning to evacuate the beaches.

I know you're right but dammit... A perfect example of "a bit more time" would be CoP.

Anywho's, bitching about it only amounts to a bit more text on a 1,000 websites worldwide and nothing more.

Glad they're fixing that instead of rushing it out the door.

I agree if this were say 2001 or 2005 or even 2009, but in 2011 delays for "RUSHING OUT THE DOOR" is a bit over the top.

If I find out they delayed this game again for something stupid like a console conversion glitch I'm gonna scream. Fucking consoles. *growls repeatedly*

you were born in a chernobyl nuclear plant?

I don't really recall the "Plant" being illustrated in any of the games TBH. I recall roaming vast miles of country side. Anywho's he said Eastern Europe, not a reactor.

After I got my upgrade to 64 bit all the Stalker issues vanished. I dearly loved ClearSky. Hate the ending so I always stop just prior but even so the replayability remains. CoP on the other hand, the tasks are bulky I guess is a good word. In the previous two games you had smooth flow from task to task. With CoP you seem to stumble into tasks more than getting them assigned properly or in a sequence that makes sense. Also, the weapon and suit upgrades aren't as good as CS was.

All of them are great games but I truly wish that CoP had been better.

Stalker CoP musta been made by another group than the first two games. I found a shitload of bad places in the maps. The buildings and layouts felt rushed. The quality just wasn't there IMO. Its a cool game but I still favor Clearsky more. I never found a single bad place in the first two games. In CoP you can see clear out of several buildings to a blue background.

I don't really remember. Maybe its different kinds of exposure. All I know is that the meter we wore in the army kept up with the cumulative exposure to any we may pick up during our tours. Perhaps the kind we had in the army is different than medical radiation of nuclear power plant kinds.

If we got to much we were banned from the area/task indefinitely. That's all I know.

. over time, the body will remove at least some of the radiation present.
