demo is just the first level.

i would encourage getting it just to get some more hype for yourself

it really does look like it'll be good fun.

    cliché stuff like what rick?

When you play it you will know, a fair few number of things made me cringe. Generic "lol rock is so cool" stuff.

Played the demo. Hack 'n' Slash gameplay with decent backing tracks.

Some humourous dialogue, but also a lot of pretty cliche stuff, even for somehting like this.

That said, there's some moments where you go "holy shit this is fuckin AWESOME" so it's definately got something going for it.

":31e4e3xq]Immidate Selling stop of Wolfenstein In Germany I just heard about this here at crytek, and the reason is like... OMFG! Aparently all the nazi symbols had to be removed from the game to be comercialized here in germany, thing is, they forgot to remove this one from the german version:

Result? Game was completely pulled back from all stores!

For those curious, here's the diference between the manly version, and the krau.. i mean german version:

All that makes it sound like it is encouraging hours of grinding simply to be able to access some of the most basic content. I don't want to have to farm space-boars for 3 hours just to buy a sword that could randomly break in the middle of an instance.

Also PVPVE is a good description of any MMO that allows questing in PVP zones.

How is the combat in Aion? A friend of mine tried it, hated it, and came back to AoC to swing clubs and fire arrows. So I'm presuming it is much like WoW, where you press buttons and wait for timers to finish, right?

hmm I'm not so convinced yet from what I've seen and read. Spending 50 € on this just to check it out seems a bit much, I'll wait for a trial, free weekend or something. Instead I picked up "Age of Conan" - now before you jump in and tell me what a waste of money this was, let me say that it's part of the green pepper budget title collection now and cost me "6,99 €", that includes 30 days of free playing. Can't go wrong with this, even if it sucks...costs about as much as a cinema ticket by now Who knows, from what I've read it had lots of potential at launch but was still rough in many aspects. Maybe all these updates I am downloading as I write this fixed some of that...

Edit: 1,83 GB?? Oh come on....

    YES FRI YES

me and a few buddies just started playing it again, come into our vent and let's fucking slay some boars.

we have a healer, a tank, and a dps, so we are all set to go through the instances and dungeons without waiting around for fagets.

we are on Fury, and currently we are all lvl 16 (not for long!)

I don't think realism is the gripe, more that what is being done is not particularly new anymore. I know every game doesn't need to re-invent the wheel, but the NS guys are in a pretty unique position. They are going to sell a lot of copies no matter what (as long as they don't fudge the distribution), they have a long-awaited sequel to a game people still play today.

They aren't under any constraints to appeal to the lowest common denominator, no publisher is breathing down their necks forcing their hand and dumbing down the game (correct me if I'm wrong).

So it seems odd that they would choose to go a pretty generic sci-fi route. Dead Space showed that an armoured guy running around a space station could actually be quite fresh. Halo, quake, doom.. we've been there, done that and bought the power-armour. Surely we could use something newer?

Yeah, the old NS marines were cool as hell, but that was like nearly 10 years ago. We've had a lot of space marines since then. I think Killzone 2 took the idea of technology in the future and really made it work well.

Can.. can I be a dick here?

The technical aspects of it are great, the texturing and modeling look to be really solid and I can totally buy into the idea behind it.

But it's a little "generic space marine" right? Master Chief meets Doom Guy meets any one of the 100 or so "space marine saves earth from aliens" characters we've had in the last 5 or 10 years?

Am I being a dick for wanting to perhaps have something a little different? Something a little niche, perhaps more workman-like, not so over-the-top? Seems all this metal would be hard to move in, restrictive and perhaps a bit too heavy?

Or is it just a case of: all those other marines were pussies, the NS marines are what the "space marine saves earth" genre has been waiting for?

    Also, bump.

lol at the end of the review, what the hell are those categories about?

    story, design, gameplay, presentation?

do they lump all visual and audio into presentation? and then give it an arbitrary score? :S

Also lol at the idiots on Youtube comparing this and Arma 2 to COD4

I actually think it looks like a good blend between the two games. The fun gunplay, movment and gameplay mechanics of CoD4 with the large scale world of ArmA.

I have bought every piece of OFP and Arma software that has been released and frankly I am tired of it. I had a lot of fun with ArmA, albeit very specific type of fun; and ArmA 2 wasn't really doing it for me, it made me realise that Bohemia aren't really interested in upping their game and dealing with gameplay problems that have existed for 10+ years.

Not every game has to re-invent the wheel but I would like to see sequels at least dealing with the problems of the previous titles.

Look at the Steam sales charts when TF2 gets a free weekend/update. It's in the top 10 week after week as it is (along with CSS and CS), because people know the game will be supported in the future. They've only just released the SDK for L4D, and by the time anyone finishes a custom campaign, the sequel will already be out.

according to Valve's numbers, a 20% increase in players for each update. Even at £14 that's a nice bit of income for some quite middle-ground work.
