OH JESUS SOMEBODY CALL THE GOVERNMENT!

let's see, it'll take people at least an hour or two to download the 21gigs from steam, "40%" of people has ati, so that means at least 60% will be able to play right away. "Well guys, let's not punish 60% of people just because 40% were cheap fucks and bought the wrong stuff" Democracy wins! USA! USA! USA!"

god almighty you're more of a fuckin bore than dux, sentura and me all rolled together. can i really be bothered, on a monday morning, to go through 2 pages of quoting and repsonding explaining why you're a fucknugget, who didn't even buy the game but is qualified to advise id to delay a game based on a set of drivers out of their control, or to simply not release the game at all because there's a chance 40% (lol who uses ATI anymore, what are you, a fucking retard? go join the other special kids on the bus, those ping pong tables won't drool on themselves) of people might not be able to play it within seconds of it launching.

as for delaying a game 6 months to work on it for a market that has 1/5th of the share, i don't really see how anyone thinks that is a good idea.

i think issues like these could have been solved earlier but i guarantee they were so focused on passing submissions for the 360 and ps3 that they figured, fuck it the pc will handle itself. if there's was any quality control at all (like microsoft and sony have for the consoles) on the pc then these issues wouldn't arise. but then you would probably have about 2 graphics cards to choose from, 1 cpu, 2 types of ram, and you could only use windows 7. but because the pc is essentially the wild west of hardware and software, you have to put up with this kind of shit. new engine, new tech, new game, new launch process, there's gonna be teething problems, and if you can't handle it maybe you should buy a console.

they released the pc version, what, 6 months after the console version?

would you prefer all games had an extra 6 months in dev for the pc version?

interestingly enough i think a lot of what they did could be achieved with good meshes and a shitload of decals. which is essentially what they have done, but then baked it all into megatextures. maybe i am missing the point somewhat but there's not a great deal of actual content, it's just reused well and covered in decals.

if someone could write a decal system that wasn't a fucking hog then this kinda detail would be pretty easy to achieve and improve upon. still not 100% convinced by megatextures

does it improve anything else besides texture popping?

it will force the 8k textures and make everything look a shitload better:

None of the other id software games had "press enter to start", nor buggy menus where the mouse will vanish because it incorrectly assumes that I'm using the 360 controller that ive plugged in. This is all because the game was made for consoles, then adapted for the mouse/keyboard.I can fully understand the hate that alot of people feel because consoles really are ruining parts of what makes pc gaming so awesome (imo the best controller is the mouse/keyboard). Namely that everything now are being built FOR the game pad instead of FOR the mouse/keyboard). It basically means that if you are using a controller you get the INTENDED experience, whereas if you are using second ass shit like the mouse/keyboard you only get a slap-on-duct-taped-hacked experience. Personally I've always had a console, but I prefer the mouse/keyboard style gaming a lot more. Whenever I play rage I get the feeling that he menus and the like would be a lot better if they had not been built to work with consoles (because that is a severe limitation, and its a limitation that really limits the potential of the mouse/keyboard use.

yes, this is fully understood by everyone, this is now how it is. pc gaming is the second class choice for 75% of the gaming population and therefore games will not be tailored for that audience. i have only had some slight issues with the inventory system, equipping weapons and quick switching between weapons, it's a bit unexplained and badly implemented, but what are they going to do, have 2 different submissions, one for console and one for pc?

things have changed a lot since we first started playing pc games, people moved on and now consoles are the dominant market. it's perfectly understandable why that is the case as well. how many people are having problems with the pc version of rage, versus no-one ewxperiencing these problems on consoles, because they have a closed system that can be fully exploited by the developer?

personally, i'd love to make pc-only games and have huge amounts of memory and performance to play with, who wouldn't? but to expect developers to ignore the market, in a "financial crisis", and to cater to the smaller group of players is pretty naive and it gets boring to hear it all the time.

what would you prefer the solution to be, multiple submissions and versions of a game for different platforms? game development is pretty obese and untidy as it is, i can't even imagine what kind of problems would come from doing that.

first off: i have had no problems. maybe because i am not trying to run the game on some infested piece of shit that hasn't been reformatted for 5 years, and actually has decent hardware.

waiting to buy a game that is as enjoyable and beautiful as this is like waiting til you're 30 to lose your anal virginity to some bull-dyke hooker with a strap-on. why would you wait? get that cornhole filled by a loved one TODAY.

as for "consoles". you guys are retarded. devs would love to build for a sytem that has obscene hardware and can crank up the settings to MAXIMUMOVERDRIVE. but look at half-life 2, they had a shitload of backwards compatibility right from the start, they still supported dx7 until a couple of years ago. you really think devs can afford to just say "fuck you consoles" and stay in business?

god i don't know why i even bother. i hope you all get cancer.

i'm actually amazed at how good this looks when just driving around, like i know they are using repeated meshes but the way they have arranged and painted everything is just so fantastic, it really feels like a unique world.

i think the setting they chose really helps show off the engine.

    what a fantastic game :3

It's a fully compatible PC peripheral, don't know what you are talking about.

Or do you really need to know that W is forward and S is backwards?

It loves telling me how to look up and down at the beginning first. I didn't know how to do that, thanks game!

Also holy low res textures batman. I'm running the max max config and some of this looks like ass. Thanks consoles.

i wonder how much money natural selectrion 2 will make, it being a truly original and great pc exclusive game.

i swear to god if there's a single thing wrong with NS2 i'm coming to your house. and i will rape you.

i will try the config out - does it boost visual quality? my pc is fucking uber and i really want summa dat high quality shit.

i played about an hour so far, and it's a really great experience. we all knew the textures were going to be low quality as far as resolution goes, but were actual artistic quality is concerned i'd say this is one of the most wonderfully crafted games i've played in a long time. the overall scenes are beautiful, even if the indiviudual components might not be.

there's some bad game design stuff, some odd choices here and there, the vehicles feel and look (when driving them) very different to the actual fps gameplay, and the areas seem ridiculously close together considering some of the dialogue from npc's "just a few clicks down the road" and i drive half a metre and there's a whole new settlement or dungeon. but whatever, starting area, i accept the need to break you in gently and i'm sure it'll pick up later. for 21gigs of game i expect to get some of those "hyrule field" moments >:L
