Because you guys are just arguing aimlessly because you like different tools, and the OP wanted some UED forums, not a debate about UED vs Hammer, two totally different editors for two totally different engines.
The lighting doesn't make a lot of sense though - the sky is pale blue up top (and the rays show that it's noon-ish) but the area outside is blown out totally and yellow?
It looks nice, texture-wise, but looks very black/white.
Nice though.
this thread is gay.
Well, look at the CSS community- there are shitloads of custom models, both player and weapons that have been released - they may not be perfect or well-optimised but people are still stepping up to the challenge. The next gen just brings a longer process of getting your shit into the game, whether that's a bad thing I don't really know, I don't think it is, it just makes the final result that much sweeter ![]()
Yarr, well, it stays ![]()
Sorry to keep spamming this but any crits are welcome, kinda ![]()

Maybe if they built the vent before the rails, but not if they built the vent after the rails.
Anyway, Zete, I just throw in a skylight on default settings, put in an Omni with a blue tint at full intensity, and turn shadows on with this Omni. Then put in another Omni at another angle and set the colour to orange and half intensity. Then render with Light Tracer set.
As for the material:

I turned specular to 0, and glossiness to 10.
Hope that helps.
all 100+ pages? <_<
Thanks for the comments seir, however the light is the only thing I changed, as the vent is from a ref pic, and I've added some ghetto methods of attaching it onto the railing to give it some character, I like it like that and it is accurate to my reference, so it stays ![]()
The ladder style I have not decided on, the way I was going to do it doesn't make a lot of sense for such a low roof, but I will see what happens.
Going to add in another lower part of the roof and have some steps getting up to this part.
This is the other side by the way (with some additions, like the light moved etc), the final render will be in video form with a slow 360 around the whole thing.

I will be playing this son of a bitch for days. I just pray to god it doesn't suck up too much of my time.
Only a couple more weeks to wait <_<
They better be filling the special edition tin with lots of heroin to make up for all this god damn waiting:.
Sure but you still need people making all the content to put into those maps. A sandbox without any sand is just an empty box.
Prepare for millions of samey-looking jungle maps that aren't quite as good as the games official maps.
And that's what makes it so amazing. If everything were perfect it'd be no fun at all.
Sony need to realise this and include subtle items that can turn chic into shriek. Black wallpaper - the ability to paint in blood on your own walls, giant dildo shaped lava lamps. The ability to upload pictures from your camera/webcam and use them as posters and such.
God, just thinking about the sheer horror of it all gets me excited.
Bad = Good.
Yarr - I made some fuck ups with my reference pic to model transition; however I made room for my errors by planning to chop a piece out of the railings and include a ladder on the side (on the wall between the door and the vent prbly).
So yes. My planning is atrocious, but I'm not a very good level designer ![]()
[edit] oh zing, ReNo knows his shit ;D

[edit] I should mention this is still only two days old and very WIP
Hessi has a perfect Aryan nose.
<_<
how are you make such maps of the greatness?!!
Looks very weird. As has been stated it could not possibly exist in the real world, and that ruins it for me, especially because it looks like you tried too hard to make it look realistic. Only to fail at finding reference pictures ;D
I just pre-ordered my copy - 24 pound, pretty damn cheap.
Anyone else ordered it?
It's very monotone - like what's-his-name said it needs some variation, between upper and lower levels would make the height variation stand out a bit better.
Still, way to go for not abandoning a project ![]()
