all in all rick d smokes six hundred cigarrettes a day, lives in a darkened cavern in england with internet access, drinks vodka distilled in chloric acid and wears beanies soaked in the musk of never having been washed. rick d is a barbarian and probable bad ass
the cave has excellent facilities including lighting - unfortunately my music career has gone downhill since the 80's and i can only afford electricity to power the PC and my home-brewing kit.

lol JP and sindwiller - I suppose we should all be modeling and mapping in notepad because only amateurs use programs designed for the task at hand.

Well, I think running around on your own server might actually be for the best, sorry if this sounds muddled by gameplay can confuse the issue, what are we to do if we have a great looking map with poor gameplay and a poor looking map with excellent gameplay? I think the natural solution would be just choose maps that make a legitimate attempt at playability and look fine and are creative etc etc rather than neccessarilly testing them strenuously.
Besides, as anyone who has released a map knows that testing it is such a long and drawn out process that it isn't really worth judging based off that with a month or so long map contest.
Just my two cents.
Some maps play well - some play very poorly, for a 1024x1024 cube there's not a lot of gameplay that can't be tested in about 10 or 20 minutes - especially when it's HL2DM.
There's also no way you can run around on your own and test the maps' gameplay, don't know how you think that's possible?
ReNo - why don't you come onto IRC and ask people if they want to play? I know I;m not watching the server and hoping for people to join it, nor is it feasible to arrange a time - how about tomorrow - anybody who wants to have a final run around all the maps, comes on IRC and we all go and play them - set aside an hour and a half of your day (sunday - shouldn't be too hard) and we can go over all of them - although a few are very laggy due to the elevators, their gameplay might be nice if they didn't lag like shit (lol @ the folks that made a laggy 1024x1024 cube; give up mapping now

god damn that looks good

never really got down with NIN; too slow, too emo, too art-house bullshit.
Always preferred a bit of Tool or Soundgarden to get my rocks off to

hijack: anyone a fan of NoMeansNo ?

smoked much pot recently?

it's neither nuke, militia, nor inferno if I recall correctly. It may look like it but it isn't - nuke and militia use a cylinder with a translucent texture to give the effect of mountains/hills etc, which is the only similarity I guess.
This texture you have used needs less warping tbh.
Get your facts straight!@

Also - map looks very WIP.

yes unfortunately I started working with video editing when I started the reel - so my experience with making stuff look nice and smooth is not great. I am only making it 90 seconds +- long - and some people want longer to look at the pieces (pause button anyone?) and others think there should be more to show - there's is no middle ground it seems; and it's difficult for me to please everybody because I doubt everybody here is in the business of hiring people (aside from a select few who are leads etc) and they are looking at different things I guess.
I'm not trying to get into level design, level design is shit and boring (sry
), I'm interested in doing environment art, the props that build up the detail in a level etc. So yeah, I'll work on doing something to it and improving it - appreciate the crits gents.Oh and singwiller: mbp/s +- Iuth7 % *7^HTaQ

@ ferret - if you google "crazybump" it takes you to the download page, so I'm simply saving the people here some time by removing the google steps. I'm sure the guys who use crazybump here will add in their emails to receive updates and news as I thoughtfully did when it came out.
Besides - more users = more feedback so hopefully I didn't do anything to piss the nice guy off.

I stand corrected

What a weird design ;D
