cod4 was a brilliant game and you do yourself a hipster disservice by not playing it.

CSGO has a thing called.. playblast? play to pay? progigal percentigables? fuck i can't remember but basically pay money to play workshop maps on official servers. really great to see people enjoying the maps. amusing that half of the 7 chosen were done by mapcore. and a guy at dice did that library map (which is a clusterfuck of epic proportions lmao, sorry oskar!!!!!!)

thunder is really cool - some great art and lighting. but it's quite slow paced and very complicated in it's layout (or it feels that way after half a dozen rounds). personally i think Favela is the most complete and competent out of all the maps chosen, dunno who made that map but somebody should hire him lmao!

Whaaaat ? I thought it was cool name (((((((((((

for sure, i just mean that a name should be catchy and easy to remember. think about someone in a server changing the map via rcon etc. militia, italy, dust, inferno, aztec - perfect names that work in a variety of use-cases. i think ruins is actually really good; it's a little non-descriptive and shouldn't be your final name but it's a good starting point in terms of simplicity.

don't call it yutacan, it's too hard to remember or pronounce.

call it something easy to type, spell, remember etc.

I started some stuff for the polycount Escape contest. started yesterday so there's still 5-ish weeks left for polish and the hero/focus object.

valve is sponsoring the contest so I figured it was only polite to use the source engine.

niccuh plz. 2560x1600, full everything fuck your grafixx shit runs at 60 of these fps's people are raving about on the streets these days.

so i just finished this and it starts so fucking well, the gunplay and combat and pacing is divine, really well put together, it starts to fuck up towards the end though - feels like the less experienced designers were working on some of the later levels or they didn't have the time to devote narrative resources to really keep a good pacing / balance going on.

but holy shit, what a game. really enjoyable on all counts. 2 gun limit and poor selection of vigours sort of ruined some things. i think the game is a genuine 10/10 though, lots of small annoyances (running through a room spamming F got a bit boring) but nothing that really ruined the experience or made me want to stop playing.

i'd recommend this to anybody, even if it;s for the last 20 minutes, i spent that time with my jaw open and filled with a kind of child-like glee, eyes glazed just soaking up the fan service and twists. holy shit.

The hostage update seems intersting but... I dunno, what about e-sports? There were rules and conventions based upon the original rules, sudden changes like these don't seem to help.

    Interested in trying it out.

There's too much to touch upon but it's good to see some other discussion than "lol tits or gtfo" or "fuck feminist whores!".

Like I said earlier, I don't think there's any right or wrong answer to this, but I do find it interesting how much aggression there is to someone who, as many of you have pointed out, isn't part of our little video game industry clique.

Yes there are differences between men and women, yes it's important that equality is a 2-way street, yes there are games that don't suffer from the things she and others promote as being inherent in games; the problem is in attitudes when putting forth objections, counter arguments etc. Remember that we are speaking from a position of power: we make the games, the games are marketed towards us, we are the demographic. Regardless of race, gender, etc, the fact is that when we lash out and call people cunts and whores and demand that they "make their own game", what message are we sending? It almost makes it look like they are right about their criticisms, regardless of the facts. It makes developers and players look like immature, angry, hateful people.

I'm not sure your post is for real because it sounds like straight copypasta from a feminist blog.

But since this isn't EOT i'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

First off i think it's presumtuous that "straight white males" arn't supposed to express an opinion on racism, homophobia etc. that doesn't comply 100% withyour own. People are individuals no matter their skin color or sexual orientation and everybody has the freedom to express an opinion. It has no bearing on the validity or invalidity of an opinion.

The next thing is you put things in peoples mouth or make wild assumptions about everyone. Please point me to "sexism / homophobia / racism isn't real" comments in this thread. I think it's very real which makes it the more dubious that she spents 160k$ on badly researched videos about a pretty trivial subject in the grand scheme of things and still keeps asking for donations mind you. Ther's 1000x more sexism in the comment sections about her stuff then in the video games she talks about. And those arn't even remotely close to the worst abuse that women and homosexuals can experience irl. But hey who gives a shit about setting priorities, right?

Then what really irks me is how arbitrary the word sexism gets thrown around as a knockout argument, completely warping the meaning of it in the process just to make other peole look bad. Instead of attacking users why not make a constructive post about why you think she's right with all her accusations and assumptions? Then we can discuss the validity of it in an equaly constructive manner.

Some valid points, but what the fuck can you do with $160,000. I can't even buy a good yacht with that kind of money.
