hmm in the gt review they gave it a 9.2 for presentation ... but all the footage i saw kinda looked like ass ... every once in a while they splice in a shot from re5 and that looks a generation ahead ...

but the whole journey/the crossing auto populated single-player stuff sounds really intriguing to me.

the project logos on the old layout dont/didnt bother me so replacing them with black and white screenshots is neither and improuvment nor a disimprouvment the "wallpaper pattern in the background i find a bit odd it attracts too much attention but maybe thats just me...

after seeing the unreal engine 4 demo people have claimed that "other engines"have been doing dynamic global illumination for a while now and cryengine always came up and indeed i remember crytek advertising that their engine can do dynamic gi

    exhibit B: http://www.crytek.com/cryengine/present ... ryengine-3

    exhibit C: http://www.crytek.com/cryengine/cryengi ... lumination

i downloaded the cry-sdk and am reading /searching the documentation and the only thing i can find about GI is this (a setting within the "time of day window" called "global illumination multiplier"):

    http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/SDKDO ... ime+Of+Day

but all that seems to do is add a "directional-light" that points upwards( +y axis). it doesnt pickup the color from anything in the world and doesnt hit walls that are at a 90° angel next to it like it does in that new-york apartment video. first i feared that its not working because my config-specs were set to low but it turns out they were set to very high(the highest) than i thought its probably because my gfx card only supports dx9.0c and not 11 but the tech demo video from crytek claims to also have been captured with dx9

so whats going on here ? where is that promised gi ? what am i doing wrong or was this all just marketing fluff ?

does anybody know any other cool dynamic gi implementation in another engine =?=

looks really cool although wet/night time is much easier to make than realistic sunny daytime.

a big change of pace in the gameplay department would be greatly welcome ... i guess i gotta play peacewalker for story now...

you need more "angeled geometry" the top surface of those cubes has the same normal direction as the surface below so it will look pretty much identical add some extra edges /tessilations on those cubes smooth them re render and see what kind of a difference it makes.

i dont think i have ever had a paid freelance/remote gig that didnt "emerge" because of some previous office work or rl-relationships. so i am not even sure if my opinion matters really but here we go:

+not having to commute through the cold/rain/snow/hale/thunderstorm ever is a big thing for me and i enjoy the fuck out of that.

-but the real fucking work, the real good shit that ties into the tech and design the stuff that ends up getting used and actually adds value to the game ONLY gets done when you are "at" work and there is talent around you in shouting distance.

so unless you are fine with doing "superflouse","pedestrian"or lets call it "background" stuff for a game you gotta work inhouse !
