I always do this out of habit, but I also only ever create one brush in any map, the rest are all copy and pasted then edited to whatever I need, so if I need a mitred corner wall I copy and paste one I've already made. I also spend hours nodrawing hidden faces, ie inside a mitred join or flush with another face, which looking at Valve's maps and what other people have said I don't think is necessary? I've never heard a proper answer either way on that.

Same as I do, habits die hard.

    nope it's Source.

I thought that too but when you look closely it sure doesn't look like it. No specular or phong, the normal maps look painted on and the skybox is horrendously low res (256*256?) which makes me think D3 is right.

Then again other shots look like they have stock Source content in the blood splatters and bullet holes so its totally inconsistent.

Looks more like a Source mod than a stand alone game, presuming it is Source seeing as that article says it's on the same engine as Half-Life (2 i hope...)

Not too impressed atm but has potential.

    PC Demo?

NFS:Shift demo was ok, was expecting more CRASH though when battering objects. Even on high its pretty clean and no dust/debris

I sort of agree, it's hard to compare all the different albums as each is markedly different from the others (except perhaps Showbiz/Origin) but each definitely has a time and a place.

It's definitely more mellow than previous albums but thats not a bad thing in my book, now I have some Muse that won't get my heart pumping whilst driving and end up hitting 100mph...

I have both a mac and a PC. The iMac looks better, crashes less and is 10x more reliable. The PC is more powerful and better for upgrading.

My iMac got me (and 2 of my housemates at seperate times) out of some serious situations doing my degree when my PC crashed or died and a deadline was imminent.

Both are good for different things, both are bad at different things.

  • Crysis weird lighting/shadows bug

Seeing as I got myself a 260GTX now I thought lets see if Crysis plays any better than it did with my 7900GS. Only have the demo and whilst before it looked ok on medium, it was about 5fps.

However with my 260GTX on anything but low the shadows/lighting looks like this:

    [Blocked Image: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8052/crysis.jpg]

Theres like some corrupt shadow that follows me around in about a 50m radius, the shadows don't change in these 50m its like an overlay of squares projected down onto the player, beyond that its ok. The flashlight has the same problem (also shown in pic)

At least I can play at a decent frame rate on high now, even with this mega annoying shadow issue. Totally ruins the immersion.

Where's the cheapest place to get this in the UK? Amazon are £18 but out of stock, GAME and gamestation are £22/24 and Steam is about £30 lol.

The Inno3D GTX260 card came by today. After some serious reorganising of my case (a Antec P180 lol) it squeezed in and much to my surprise, happily plays games at high detail with AA no problem. Except GTAV which is still being a whiny bitch, shall sort it out later.

I've not even changed the PSU... I guess it will just cut out when it can't take anymore rather than go kaboom. I'll be backing up today anyway.
