Everytime I go "Hmm, Ham and Jam could really benefit from the OB engine" Valve break the tools, usually for months.

Can only reiterate what others have said about your resume, it has no need to be that long and gives the impression you've done a lot more than you have. It could be easily condensed on to one page.

It is a bit classic British 60's concrete jungle.

Did you see their new office or the old one outside the city? The new one is pretty natty.

For those who were asking, this was for Crytek UK. I start next Tuesday provided I can get back home, pack stuff and move into the company flat in time!

chances are you'd get the same results with linux. you sacrifice potential power and extras for stability. i have to agree with rick's post, especially the last paragraph.

Without wishing do degenerate this any further into Mac vs PC, my Mac couldn't get more stable. It has never crashed properly in the 5 years I've had it, certainly in the OSX side. It's done some pretty hefty work in Final Cut and Photoshop as well, not just sat around as a gimmick. Even when it's in XP mode its still pretty reliable although XSI has it's quirks.

The only thing imo Linux has it's free/cheap. I'd certainly rather have my iMac sitting in a room rather than the hulk of my main PC, shallow but also a reason people buy then.

I bought a Mac for the Mac features and ease of use, to this day it has not let me down whereas the PC I had at the time only exists in the DVD-ROM drive of this PC. It runs like the day I bought it.

Getting the "lulz mac" comments was a side effect that I couldn't give two hoots about. I'm a PC, and a Mac.

If it works well/adequately on a bog standard 13" MBP, I don't think I'll be able to resist getting one for much longer.

Bleh, forgot Gearbox did that. They would've had to have run it past Valve first anyway.

I don't think Valve did a huge lot of research onto the effects of low yield nuclear bombs on subterranean facilities, taking into account location and rock type. Let alone realistically modelling a nuclear warhead.

    The situation probably went:

Gabe: We need to blow BM up!

    Employee: Yeah, how though?

    Gabe: Nuke it!

    Employee: Righto!

Edit: Sure parts of it could remain, but its a dead end. Why go back? Whats left would've been cleaned up looong ago. If the yield was low enough to require clean up, it would've been done. If it was high there wouldn't be anything left to clean up.

So far the Black Rock one I had was an hour and a bit, just general Q&A and seemed about right. Had a 30 min phone interview this week also which was a bit weird, would have preferred a face to face but that would be the next step if I go any further with them. Then yesterday was this epic interview.

    It consisted of:

    - 1.5hr written "test" which I wasn't expecting and it was brand new to the company, guinea pig!

    - ~1hr with HR department discussing stuff like lifestyle, relocation, pay etc

    - 1.5hrs of show and tell with the Lead LD and Game Designer, showing work and Q&A etc

    - 30mins of playing around with their project and studio tour

    - 30 mins of meeting the senior design team in an informal sit down meeting just discussing random stuff like teabagging online.

    - 30 mins of chatting with the Studio Boss about the company and pay again.

Was shattered after, even with free unlimited Vimto on tap.

The weakest one imo is the one of the girl in the corridor. I'm not sure where the focus point is but her face looks a little blurred.
