It wouldn't be so noticeable if the two faces were aligned (their texture that is...)

There is one thing that we all need to take into account, it's that the industry as a whole is extremely young, and will evolve so much in the coming years and decades that it isn't exactly clear what direction it'll take.
Projects cost way too much these days, so many major licenses simply aren't selling well at all, and in many cases don't make any money for their developers.
There is also a problem with publishers, some of which will be taken over or going bankrupt before long (Atari,...) and the new prospects from Steam and the like (EA will soon have their own platform) open completely new business models.
The really successful game companies are from Asia. They have a completely different market and many exclusive games that would put to shame any EU/US company.
It won't last forever, when you consider the sales figures for the next gen war, the PS3 isn't going to lead the industry forward, and the X360 has already shown it'll most likely go the same way as the xbox (35-40 million units at the end of its life), but more importantly the consumer market for it is extremely different. In the US it's xbox live that's driving the console, whereas only 2% of EU consumers are registered on Live. And it's also completely inexistant in Japan.
The way I see this going, major western companies will all have to resort to outsourcing development in emerging countries (India for instance), the way Ubi has already moved most of its development from France to Romania, Morocco, Canada and China. Canada being the only "western" country in the bunch, but the deal with the Canadian government helped filling the financial gap.
Next gen projects require more staff to make, and/or longer development time, but since they don't sell more than older games, something's gotta give.

I finally got my copy off Lulu, and I'll be expecting the delivery sometime this month at work. I'll also advise my boss to pick up some copies, since we're asking our artists to make levels too, they could certainly use expert advice.

I think it makes perfect sense and it's spot on. I happen to come from an international business BD, and you would be surprised how many questions derived from that and how I had moved away from that industry into the gaming one.
Answer is simply: Human sciences studies don't teach you anything but work methods, which you can apply to any other job you'll do. It's about how you value teamwork, how you interact with the people you meet, and how easily you are able to gain their trust and respect in a work environment.
If you have those skills, you can always show your interviewer that investing in you in the mid to long term is always beneficial, because you'll be able to go up the ladder a bit and be a team leader.
And don't think it comes after 10 years of work, it's a lot quicker than that, as I'm seeing this right now.

Waited for 7 years before buying a PS2, the PS3 can wait as long if not more

That's a very good idea. I'll see about participating

Quote from Izuno
Can anyone here from Europe confirm the level of Stalker buzz in your country?
Joystick Magazine (French mag) had STALKER as their cover in the September 06 issue. However Jeux Vidéos Magazine is making a 15 pages preview of the hottest games to come out this year, both PC and console, in this month's issue, and the game is only featured on the very last page, with a rather small article about it....
In comparison, MGS4, Alone in the Dark 5, Assassin's Creed or Super Mario Galaxy are getting two pages. STALKER's article was shorter than HL2 Episode 2, and the buzz on that game clearly isn't big so far.
Also, the Stalker article had its release during the fall/winter of 2007

If anyone knows the manga Gunnm, that could so be an arena

The way Rayman was made, the idea was more "Make it for the PS2, it'll fit on the Wii ok". That's how next gen our processes were
Hell even Nintendo said it. it's all about the gaming experience, not the high res hardware. If you look at Zelda, it's a GCN game.

That error wouldn't cause the map to not be generated. Post your complete log, I'm pretty sure there are other errors in it

Originally (cough cough) March 16th 2007, this new countdown indicates it's more like March 21st...ok who cares anyway....

Now come on Magnar, you and I both know it could turn out to be the best looking Wii game so far

-
Yeah, but that's a 2d game, and to me the proper way to use Wii's controls in a 2d game is by using the wiimote only, flip it 90° and use it as a normal pad.
A classic Half Life though would be cool. It'd actually be nice to see a whole range of classic old games make it to the Wii in a "Golden Games" collection of some kind
