I've counted it thinking that avarage month have 4 weeks but that still proves my point, what I think is that you should be able to do this within a day or two (depending on hours) of work assuming that you know what you want to do!

    Plan stuff in advance!

Well, that's a lot of time, the results are very nice but time!

lets say your mod will have 25 areas like that.

    25x 2 weeks = 50 weeks =12,5 month

+ month of time when you can't work for random reasons = 13,5 month

+ time for scripting, coding and random stuff.

about 1,5 year to finish it. And if it would be only 25 rooms like this then it would be small mod and play time would be like 1-2 hours?

Not sure if it's worth it! I recommend you to sketch ALL areas before getting into details, I'm pretty sure you will want to alter the room you've just finished working on and it will add another 2 weeks and so on.

And it might be next cool mod that you worked on and never finished! That would be a shame!

    But again,

    Don't get me wrong please!

    Best of luck.

They are mostly just photos, I've seen those which propably 've been used, it doesn't mean it's bad but there is also no reason to get overly excited. Sure they look good but that's it. Photo-based faces looked ok in Max Payne because every single texture was a photo and it looked overally nice, in crisis the head is a bit "separated" from the body in some cases and it makes it look it a bit weird, (example) what I mean is, that the human characters in games with all the photo detail will look completely beliveable if Everything surrounding them will be up to the level as well.

I was impressed when I saw LC fisherman being built from ground up without using any sort of photo refs... It just look REAL and LIFELIKE when I first time saw him, the fine motion, face muscles, he just seems Alive! And he would blend with the environment as far as I remember him.

Also, If you put a normal map that arleady have some sort of facial expression or other features, then it's less Real no matter how photo realistic. This is what I liked about new Source Facial Features, the compress/stretch maps that really sort this one out, tiny detail but always when you need it and gives even better overall picture (TF2 characters really look "alive" somehow I think).

No matter how they look and are rendered, I still find more "life" in HL2 chararcters than in those from Crysis.

When i bought my current pc about a year+ ago, I ordered 2x 1gig ram sticks that should be perfectly compatible with mobo but they weren't (alltho shop tested them and they were fine) after i installed system and so on it started to play around, pc wouldn't boot, beeper etc and when i've send it back to the shop they said that ram is incomaptibile and i have to choose diferent one.

So it's most likely that this particular model of RAM might not coop with your mobo while it should, it happens (do what Thrik said and check it in diferent pc).

I belive you done them and I'm impressed that you did it the way i could mistake it with one of best texture work ever Keep up the good work. But I think i arleady cleared it up in previous post though.

I didn't said that THESE are those we can see on the pics, read it once again. D3ads textures just are really simmilar style-wise to the SH2 textures and could be easily them so I just posted one of SH2's textures so you can see what I mean.

But as I can see now that You've created them on your own, it only means, like I said, that this is GJ!

Also, I think you've choosen best inspiration for textures You could

EDIT: And yeah I agree with others, starting a HL1 mod doesn't make sense, there is 1000 of other engines with bigger possibilities!

Nice work, I'm not sure if You used SH2's textures but they certainly do look exactly like them I can't be sure since I don't want to browse all of them, but if it's your work then GJ.

It's a team build by those who've quit GSC long time ago (I think), someone linked me to their page and the game they are doing is Stalker basiclly, even the assets look similar, engine is almost a copy...

Could eventually end up the case, though I doubt it'll be the next generation. The concept does seem like a natural evolution of games at some point. I've noticed that a lot of people who're new to games, and even myself sometimes, move their head as if it'll let them see further round a corner in a game. I know for a fact some friends do this too when playing -- it's just the natural thing to do.

You can ALWAYS do better no matter what.

I think he meant that it looks like a low poly with slapped photos on but i can't tell what he really meant.

Hmm... I'm well, not particularly "WOWED" by this to be honest, so far it looks cramped brushwise (right facade is glued to the building?? They must have interesting view through window  ) and unconsistent texturewise (photo/hpaint). I'm also not really convinced by this broken/collapsed wall.

I will wait till it's released before i write complete crit.
