Kinda bummed out that we are not getting PS1/2/3 back compatibility. I was kind of looking forward to having one piece of hardware do it all especially because it should be possible with the amount of processing power it has ?

Yeah I get to maybe complete 1 or 2 titles a year nowadays, kind of crazy considering how it used to be.

I'll install Mafia 2 Definitive since they were so kind to upgrade my copy, hoping it runs decent (the original seemed to have the same CPU single thread bottleneck of Crysis).

Erm, dude it's good and they fixed a lot of issues. I've played the original game probably once every two years since 2002 and the remake did not insult me so far! Those events in the opening chase are rather weird but I quickly forgot about that. The rubber faces are a bit shit I have to agree, not sure why they chose to almost completely remove the specular highlights there.

It's actually the Mafia 2 remaster that I was a bit more disappointed with, whole thing is mostly about up-rezed assets without proper art direction. That one is rushed ?

I never look at reviews but it came up while scrolling on Facebook and was curious on the reasoning of such a harsh score.

I personally just find baffling how bad animations look, considering that Mafia 3 clearly has better animations and animation blending. How the newest game is not using the tech from the immediate predecessor?? I understand budgets and publisher constraints but what matters, the end result, like a half done job.

Had the same impression, also the ramming mechanic is a bit of a cheat with those super slow cars :D

Anyway, just beat that freaking racing mission, if they're going for authenticity they're nailing it because it's just as frustrating as the original, lol. Really enjoying this game man...

It's a bit strange that they're selling this for 40 bucks, isn't it? I would totally still buy this for full price, and be more than happy with the purchase.

If you haven't played the 2002 original you do get a full length original game. And let's be real, only dinosaurs like us actually remember playing the original :(

After putting in some hours (got more than half of the game completed) I only have one moan:

There are ads in the game. Vans, Adidas etc... Not sure how to feel about this, they're everywhere IRL so i guess it doesn't matter? I paid for the game though... conflicted.

It feels exactly like the old game when you play it (with some improvements no doubt). They must've at least looked at the old game play code because I could instantly pick it up and start making combos :D RE2 is a different type of a remake because they had to completely change the gameplay for it to pass in 2020~

It's also cool to see my materials in another childhood game remaster ;)

    Fuck alarm bells tho.
