TV/Telephone services vary from company to company but prices depend on what packages you choose. We have satellite based services such as StarChoice and Bell ExpressView. We have digital based services such as Bell (everywhere), Alant(Eastern/Mountain Canada, Bell owned), Rogers (everywhere), Videotron(Quebec Based) and Shaw (Western Canada), all the big telecommunication players. Shaw being the only ones I liked for internet/TV.

Getting a package deal is the only decent way to save money on everything, although most of these companies require yearly contracts now...; well, that is if don't want to pay even more without one. Much like a cellphone plan.

TV service is very similar to the US, only more expensive here. Same with cellphones. Since I haven't purchased TV for the last 2 years, I don't watch enough of it to justify the price, so I'm sure alot has changed since then.

Bell actually has some pretty decent package plans. Better than rogers and videotron, not better than Shaw Cable, and I would consider it, however I have already been with teksavvy for more than a year now and moving to bell is a step down in my service and price :/

I'm with Teksavvy for internet and George Burger, the spokesman for Teksavvy is doing a great job!

At least Zack is doing it, so it should be interesting at least. But I don't have any hype for superman either. He is the most boring superhero.

On the topic of superhero movies, gah, the new spiderman looks awful.

The stuff in the OP is not being very clear: In Canada virtually all the internet infrastructure is owned by Bell, who are forced to lend their bandwidth out to other companies for the sake of competition. These other companies have been beating the pants of Bell, selling better service with fewer restrictions for cheaper, so Bell petitioned the government to allow it to charge these renter ISPs for used bandwidth.

Its the only way the small ISP companies like Teksavvy can stand a chance by having better service rates, but again Bell should fix their rates at least to closer match what the smaller ISP have to offer.

    Hey everyone, and especially the people in Canada, this is very very important as the CRTC, Bell and big telecom companies are on the greed train to screw over the little guy. I am posting this in the gaming discussion because, down-loadable content (such as games from Steam, etc) are only getting bigger and bigger, and that takes lots of bandwidth usage, am I right? And right now, small ISP companies have had great bandwidth rates with great prices. Well Bell and other big telecom companies think we have to have caps and pay more. Doesn't matter where you guys live, please help support this to stop our greedy corporation train. All of the information is provided in the quote below;

    Quote

Bell Canada and other big telecom companies can now freely impose usage-based billing on independent Internet Service Providers (indie ISPs) and YOU.

This means we're looking at a future where ISPs will charge per byte, the way they do with smart phones. If we allow this to happen Canadians will have no choice but to pay more for less Internet.

Big Telecom companies are obviously trying to gouge consumers, control the Internet market, and ensure that consumers continue to subscribe to their television services.

This will crush innovative services, Canada's digital competitiveness, and your wallet.

We need to stand up for the Internet.

As some of you know, the CRTC recently rendered a decision forcing all independent DSL and Cable Internet providers to substantially match incumbent (like Bell) usage rate caps. This will influence all of our internet service packages across Canada eventually, but DSL residential customers in Ontario and Quebec first, as of March 1. Along with you, we are not pleased with this, and our view is more fully expressed in our press release which you can find here: http://www.teksavvynews.com/

The CRTC decision to impose UBB on the whole market is a big win for Bell and other major carriers, but a big hit to everyone else in Canada. To view the CRTC decision, go to:

    http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2011/2011-44.htm

Like our customers, and Canadian internet users everywhere, we are not happy with this new development. We will continue our efforts to fight the imposition of exorbitant bandwidth charges on usage with virtually no incremental cost to Bell and other UBB carriers, and we will develop strategies to restore the usage levels and costs our customers have come to expect. But we need your support to succeed, and get back to the cost structure we have a right to expect.

If like us you are disappointed with the CRTC’s decision, make your views known on UBB and what it means to you (and Canada frankly) by going to http://www.stopthemeter.ca, where you will find a petition against UBB. Sign it, get involved, and together we will make a difference! Let everyone you know understand that Canada is about to become the most expensive internet market in the industrialized world!

We will keep you informed of our efforts, and look to you for your help.

I'm not sure what you guys expected, maybe it's the long development time, but with me it's quite the opposite: I'm positively surprised that it comes out at all! I think the trailer is hilarious and they are making the best out of a game, whose development can only be described as an epic trainwreck. It doesn't look like it will be the next big leap in fps gaming, more like Duke 3D on steroids. Balls to the walls action coupled with Duke humour. If it has multiplayer, I'm sold.

A few guys I used to work with at 3W work on the Multiplayer over in Vancouver.
