I absolutely loved it in the beginning too. But yesterday i suddenly felt this "*meh*-click". I think it was because i already had 3 enchanted ebony swords and then got a 4th as a reward for finishing a major quest line. How lame is that? Something unique would have been nice. And imagine you spent hours improving your smithing and enchanting skills and then you find the same kind of stuff in crates everywhere and the shops have it in stock, which you can buy easily because its so damn easy to make money. So pointless.
And also in the beginning i was collecting money and felt motivated towards the 100k gold achievement but now there are mage robes worth 4000 lying around everywhere.
Another example, you clear a dungeon in the beginning and are proud because you did it and got some nice stuff out of it. Come back later and all the loot respawned but much better and you only have to run through it and collect without any challenge.
Fallout 3 for some reason motivated me beyond the 100 hour mark but i hated Fallout:NV. Only played 40 hours of it and already felt bored after like 10-15.
I have to agree. Everytime I play, there is still this small nack that bugs me, and keeps saying; 'where are all the good rewards'? I always feel like after raiding a cave, or doing a decent sized quest, there isnt anything that motivates me to want to do it again. This only started to occur on my main warrior character not to long ago. I think Im also going to finish the main quest and focus my theif on all of the sidequests, darkbrotherhood, theives guild, well at least finish it, and any other evil quests that come along. I think by then however the amount of hours I played & enjoyed was much more than any normal SP game will give.

60 hours in and now i'm slowly losing interest in the game. The leveling isn't as bad as in Oblivion but again it serves as a big immersion and motivation breaker for me. Everything feels just pointless and devaluated by it in the end. What's the point of improving skills when the rest of the game improves with you? Another thing that bothers me is the lack of unique weapons and armor in the game. A game of this size and there are only a dozen completely unique items in it going by the wiki. The rest is enchanted standard stuff. Also the balance of the game is a bit off. I started playing on adept difficulty which got too easy quickly and the game throws money and valuable loot at you on every corner. On master difficulty the combat is only a bit more difficulty and most loot is just trash and alms, which isn't fun either. After all the loot is an important motivational factor in rpg's.
Think i'm gonna finish the main quest line and the dark brotherhood over the weekend and then i'll wait for some mods before i play again.
Oblivion and Fallout where the same thing. I stopped playing Oblivion around 60 hours, and Fallout 3 around 10. lol Im 47 hours into Skyrim so far and loving it.

Edit: I actually tweaked my game, at least as far as the 460 can push the look, very very close to what Deadend thrills looks like. Its mostly all to do with the uGridsToLoad=11 tweak. I didn't expect when I set this setting along with many others, I didn't find my fps drop all that badly. The only problem was, the game would crash very frequently.
From what I have read the only way to prevent the crashes is by using the Large Address Aware App, which I'm not convinced I want to use yet. Tonight Ill try uGridsToLoad different values and see if I can get at least one to work without crashes. I'm having just as much fun tweaking this game as I am playing it.“Madness In The Method”

Dux, they could also be using the sharpen mod.
Beauty shot
Tweaked ini, half high visuals and half ultra, no additional AO on.

I started a Khajit thief like character and wow, I'm having fun with it. My main is a warrior so its a nice change of pace.
So I also tweaked the shit out of the ini and turned on AO using the Nvidia Inspector. Now the game looks great 80% of the time vs 30% of the time without tweaks. I recommend doing so.

Haven't played it, and probably won't, but this still looks a lot like Follout 3, of coure it is polished nad improved but when i see some YT videos, this is just fallout and F3 wasn't the best looking game at it time
Its actually Oblivion (Gamebryo), and Fallout3 (Gamebryo) is Oblivion with guns + new mechanics. Skyrim is Oblivion 2.0 (Creation Engine) with Fallout3 mechanics.
Also unlike Fallout 3, I think Skyrim is actually fun. I didnt like F3 much at all.

By far my favorite spot in the game.

it's more a case of death by a thousand cuts. the characters really are pretty bad but i guess that has a lot to do with how little the artists can really control things - the characters all seem to be made from the same creator that the pllayer uses so i guess it's hard to really push things one way or the other. the custom creatures (the giants for instance) actually seem pretty cool, but i haven't actually gotten very close to them yet

I think the characters look fine, haven't had a problem with them. Some of the voices though, especially a few tough guys I met that talk like little boys is annoying.
But even Fallout had the problem; "Welcome to the vampire club friends, how about I take off your coat and we have a cup of tea together." Bethesda really needs more creepy and dark voice acting to fit some of their characters.
I thought this was one of the nicer looking areas in the game so far.
