    ok

btw: if you want to make a faked DOF: render a deph map and try to use it as a selection mask in photoshop and then blur with the mask maybe you would need to make some color selections to only blur at specific depth ranges.

ifO - re-hostedabout that imageshack - it's doing very badly those days

lol hessi, i had optical theory on my photo lessons since 2001, so i know a lot about optic and perspective also a have highest grade on my technical drawning lessons, but Your right, it's badly done  just for fun

    b.

this doesnt change the fact that your painted dof is not correct and looks weird. oh and btw: grades tell shit about personal skills. i got 3.7 in my first math test at uni. in the second one i hat a 1.0 (which is the best you can achieve). oh and btw: i am currently teaching students how to deal with cameras. explaining those effects.

well. enough of bitching around. i gave my two cents.

but you have to agree that what you show of by now does not attract good people/good maps.

and i dont understand why your community is so much better than mapcore for example. there are already dozens of map communities on the internet. why should people migrate to you? i don't see a single point.

you got to improve you website a lot. i stay at the core anyhow! <3

i really hate it when people try to add depth of field onto images that do not need it. especially when it is badly done. you should better grab some physics books and read the chapters about optical systems!

    to the kart:

the texture still lacks of details. even if you apply some planar transparent polygons above it could need some dirt or dust or maybe some drills and vents. i still don't like the proportion of the exhausts.

yet another community without community. i don't even see classic maps like de_wanda or de_corse on the page. the only map for cs:s they provide is some gay aim_XYZ thing. sucks to be them!

i got firewire 800 on my mac so i paid like 180 Euro (~220$). cheap usb HDDs cost less. maybe 130-150 Euro. but as i can tell you: usb2.0 is fucking shit. though it specifies 480Mbit/s it IS slower than firewire400 (400Mbit/s) and takes more CPU power while copying files!

i got a "mybook pro 500GB". there is a 1TB version avaible which you can run as RAID-Level 5.

the hdd that crashed wasnt the external hdd. the crashing hdd was a 300GB internal drive with all my "custom" files. so it wrecked some photo directories. as lucky as i am, i did a backup as my external 500GB arrived so i did not loose everything, bu tholy cow. that one was close!

configure your torrents! i am uploading with like 80kb/s

oh and xnview does not fully support CRW. you cant change exposure etc. there are no sliders or any other ways to change the interpretation of the RAW data then the way XNView tells.

man i am so lucky, i can't tell you.

like 2 weeks ago i ordered a 500GB external HDD with firewire etc. as it arrived i first thought: good time to backup your photos, so a HDD crash wont take away your hard work. and today: BAAAAM. HDD crashed! when i browse my photo library i cant enter several folders because the partition table seems to be messed up. somehow the folders lost their directory bit (god praise linux where you can fix that with one little program).

    [Blocked Image: http://thomashess.net/hdd_crash.jpg]

so i hope that all my data of my current map project is not fucked up or i will kill my self! working on it for like 14 months and damn close to a release!

i hate windows! it's a homo's devil system using NTFS.

    configure you Router, NAT, BT-Client

ensure all port ranges are forwarded and NAT/PAT is working. i don't know hwy you have problems that others do not have. maybe you should try Azureus as BT Client.

ok after a HDD crash this morning and several panic attacks of loosing 24GB of photos + 100s of GB of my work i did set up my computer again (fuck you windows)

currently reseeding this file via torrent. i closed ftp access because torrent offers more upload when ppl are sharing their connections. i hope you all enjoy. maybe i will release another collection this week.

just download the .torrent file again (i updated it today) and point you client to your maybe already existing data. bittorrent will check the data so you dont have to start with 0.0%

    why not .bmp downloading...

its gonna take a year or two. ~1.5 kB/s

where did you get ftp access?

if oyu are downloading via bittorrent: i am currently not seeding because my tracker used port 8080 (which is defined in the .torrent file too), but right now i need the 8080 port for a tomcat server for university. so the tracker cant get through. consequence: set up a different tracker (which i already did) and configure it for port 8081 (which i did too) and regenerate the .torrent file (which i did NOT do yet).

though 1,5kb would be extremly slow because i upload with like 100kb/s even there must be like 100 people on my computer downloading shit to get such slow rates. oh and it is not my problem you did not download while we had like 14 seeders and average swarm speed was 500kb/s.

awesome. but why not hi quality jpegs instead of raw?

because jpeg cant be high quality. RAW files save 16bit per chanel while jpeg is only using 8 bits. with a raw file you might change exposure without loosing any quality. RAW files are the way to go!

if someone needs the photos really fast i could send the login data as a private message. i don't want to make this public, so some haxx0r bots eat all my bandwidth or haxx0r my network

as soon as the tracker is running i will remove the ftp access.

i am currently working to set up a ubuntu 24h tracker. i will maybe consider hosting the torrent on a bigger tracker too. i shut down my computer because i had no leechers for a long time.

consider me working on it i can give you access to my ubuntu server via ftp and put all files on it. so you could directly download them.

make a setting. lets make a "model the shoes you are wearing right now" contest! 512 polies for the pair and 128^2 texture (no normalmapping. only colormap!) that's my suggestion
