Game time in 10 minutes or so.

    We have:

    de_ruins

    de_coldshell

    de_bermuda

Also, if an admin of the Steam CSGO Mapcore group is reading this, and is joining the test, could they please send out a group invite so that people who don't read this thread know the test is on. I don't have mod status on that yet, so am unable to do so. Thanks in advance!

Yep. Send the map to me, or post it in the thread so I can get it on the server - which is now fully booked for Tuesday. Yay!

    Next playtest:

Tuesday, 4th of June at 21:00 GMT+1 (20: 00 if you are in the UK)

We have a new map from Skybex, and 3dnj's de_ruins release candidate!

I have had a sneak peek and it is looking pretty sweet

I have been briefed in how to use the server, so things should (hopefully) be pretty much the same as before If you have something that needs testing, send it to me, or post the map in this thread stating when you would like for it to be tested.

Some I use all the time.

Shit + Z to maximize and minimize the current viewport.

Ctrl + H to hide all unselected geometry. Then U to unhide.

Ctrl + Shift + E to centre views on selected geometry in 3d view.

Crtl + E to centre on geometry in the grid view.

I am beginning to think FMPONE is not one guy, but a group of mappers toiling away in a lab to bring us great looking levels every few months. Seriously great output!

Regarding the modelling stuff. I am not sure the map really needs much more in that department. It has a clean and tidy, yet detailed look all round, while crucially, preserving the layout. Very closely it seems too.

I am sure an artist could help with a lot of things like 3d sky meshes perhaps, and some other bits, but it is not a map that I look at and say, "needs more meshes". To me, it looks like you have done what should be done. Took a clan map that was quite basic visually, and turned it into something impressive. All while maintaining all the key components required for competitive play.

I also like how a couple of the screens come across as bravely minimalistic - similar to a lot of professional maps, which avoid clutter and over the top detail in places that see a lot of combat.

I only managed to play de_convention before my PC decided to blue screen , but I had a lot of fun on it. It is so easy to learn, but also has enough going on to make things interesting. The map has a really nice flow to it, and not once did I get lost.

Overall, my biggest concern would definitely be art related. Some of the areas have a bit of a "game arena" feel to them, and trying to turn those into plausible spaces might prove a little tricky. I think it could be beneficial even at this early stage to try and define - at least in a very rough sense, exactly what each area is going to be, and what type of buildings or structures the blocked out shapes are eventually going to turn into.

Regarding the sites on de_ali (assuming they are in the same place as before). I think the placement of them is really good! Although the travel time between them is about 8 seconds or so, there are a lot of places the T's can be hiding post-plant. So the short distance does allow the CT team to search around quite a bit before going for a defuse.

    Quote from 3Dnj

The actual version of mirage is visually really boring.

Yes, but it will be a new official defusal map. And to that I say woot woot! Plus I think the competitive players have been asking for it to be included from the start.

Seems like de_mirage is going to be an official map. Yay!

Great progress in such a short time! Seems like only last week we were testing this, and it was all dev textures.

Hey guys. I have spoke to Puddy, and he has agreed to arrange a playtest on Thursday of my map - de_venezia (lots of changes based on feedback!) and de_chinatown (an already fun small bomb map) link here

The time is 21:00 CET (20:00 UK)

    See you then!

Yeah, mid is messy, especially for new players. It will receive some work in the next build. Thanks for the feedback guys. Appreciate it

Yeah, totally fair crits. There is a lot of old stuff in there from previous versions, that have not been incorporated properly into the layout adjustments.

You read my mind about A! Bridge and canal will be incoming. Yeah, agree overall with the other stuff. Sites and some other areas need more basic work.

de_chinatown - Sweet little map! Some sight lines need blocked off, and there should be some more cover generally I feel near the middle, but really fun. Atmospheric too, and easy to learn.
