The original is best, classic manga with the constant swearing and OTT violence, the CGI looks too flashy and it's all dumbed down.

First Saw is great, second is good but as not good as the first, III and IV can go in the bin and V I haven't seen yet so I thought I'd give it a chance, was only £6.

Because I haven't seen it, Saw VI is coming out and it was cheap.

That's the original 1988 version not the shitarse remake which pails in comparison.

Looking great as I said in the other thread, you don't need to make it too dirty just add bits of rust and little spatters of subtle mud and it'll be awesome

I've watched all the walkthrough, this has to be one of the most repetitive games ever.. seriously. The same 4 puzzles have been repeated about 10 times, it's rediculous. It's also the same gameplay throughout, go through door with trap, press the correct button to avoid dying, search filing cabinets for supplies, avoid the guys who want the key inside your chest (who can only say "THIS IS YOUR FAULT" or "JUST GIVE ME WHAT I WANT!" about 300 times etc. Repeat until bored shitless... also why the Hell doesn't A) Tapp steal someone's shoes from the many corpses he creates or B) use his clothing to cover his feet (Die Hard, you influenced so much...) that way he doesn't wince everytime he steps on broken glass.

Whilst not as bad as most film-game conversions (as a game of SAW it works very well) it's still pretty cack handed, this could have been a good game if they'd thought a bit more about it, I suspect Konami were being gay and wanting them to hit the deadline ready for the release of SAW VI as mentioned before.

Sentura; Watch the first one, then maybe the second whilst avoiding the others like the plague.

You've got be kidding? No dedicated server will kill the sales, there's already thousands of people moaning about having no dedicated servers in OFP:DR, in MW2 we'd be talking millions of threads on the IW forums about the same thing! Insanity.

Ok I've got the game now, just finished the first mission after a lengthy playthrough (about 3 hours +) thanks to being capped in the head one too many times. I'm running on mostly low-medium settings 1024x768 about 30 fps average which isn't ideal but at least I can play it.

Firstly other than the excellent animated intro about the history of Skira (which has been on Gametrailers for weeks now) there isn't much of an introduction to the game, as soon as that's over you start the mission straight away. I would have been better if there was some kind of helicopter intro like the Arma II demo mission.

Next the graphics whilst not being as bad as some people make out are less than ideal, I read about people on the codemasters forums setting everything to max and it looks only slightly better than what I'm playing, I've got textures on the highest they can go and things still look blurry up close which is lame in this day and age and tree LODs are rediculously under detailed, it's like a game from 2004. The lighting is annoying too, everything either looks blue, green or orange which drowns out the colours a lot, a Far Cry (heh heh) away from Arma II's beautiful colouristic landscapes. Also the FOV makes it look like you're constantly zoomed in which isn't very practical especially when you're inside a house and the walls look like you accidently left the scope on the rifle on. Outside it's not so bad but still unecessary.

Graphics aside though there's plenty to like about the game. The gameplay is a nice balance of the original OFP and COD as was anticipated, which means it's not too complicated but not exactly a walk in the park either. The menu system is very easy to use, unlike Arma II's 10 button menu command setup which is headache inducing and the squad responds and acts accordingly to what you ask of them. AI for both the squad and enemy is a little rusty, often Chinese soldiers crouched behind cover with their head visible over the top so it wasn't hard to get a headshot often, unfortunately they can do the same and they'll easily spot you about 900m in the distance and land an instant kill which you had no chance of seeing thanks to the annoying grass which sways about and unlike Arma II's, doesn't flatten when you walk on it.

The "blood" system works quite well and if you don't bandage some wounds asap you'll bleed out in no time which adds to the tension. Enemy bodies seem to vanish in about a minute so when you drop one, you need to sprint to their body if you want the ammo and supplies... to which you'll probably end up getting shot in the cranium from another enemy nearby.

I encountered a horrible bug in the game too, at one point I suddenly got stuck inside one of my teammates so that when they were running I moved with them and I couldn't get out! I tried hitting the use key to free myself and proceeded to be thrown 1000ft feet into the fucking air and died instantly when I hit the ground, I sat there for about 5 minutes with a look of dismay on my face.. I'd just spent 40 minutes prior to that driving to the objective location and clearing out a base and was seconds away from blowing up the SAM launcher nearby. Probably not as bad as Arma II's insect fest but.. FUUUUUUUUUUU..

So far so OK but that's about all...

Looks like a good start anyway, reminds me of NOLF's U.N.I.T.Y HQ.

    Ok ok I know what you're thinking, "A game of SAW? Just close to the release of SAW VI? Cash in cow!" Yeah so it's probably true but cash in cow or not, the game seems to be actually pretty good according to various reviews. It's no masterpiece by all means and suffers from horrible combat and some repetitive puzzles but the transition from film to game has been done quite well with nice attention to detail thanks to Unreal 3 engine and excellent voice acting. The game's out on 360 and PS3 and comes out on PC just before Halloween;

I'm not a massive fan of SAW despite what some of you might think, the first film was excellent and the second was pretty good but after that it's just been downhill.. Might put this on the Christmas list anyway because it'll be cheap and I wont need to pay for it

Sorry I didn't have time to search Google at that point, just had a few fleeting seconds to post that last night.

Thanks for the help, I read up on what I needed to do, so I uninstalled the old one and installed the latest version and it found all my settings automatically so it's working now.

Blue screens seem to be present still though, I think one of the RAM sticks is on it's way out PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA = lame.

My dad's machine ran into a large error today and three blue screens appeared on each bootup and then the system could only be loaded in safe mode. Following that, the harddrive was rolled back to a month ago using System Restore and everything appears to be fine again. Now I can't open Firefox however, it just doesn't do anything and I've tried loading it from Start menu, program files and a couple of shortcuts, the egg timer appears and then nothing happens.

Firstly does anyone know why this would happen? and secondly, if I resinstall can I keep my old favourites, passwords and settings?

    Cheers.
