With TDK the issue is its "thought provoking/deep" story.

Or that. The boat scene is the worst part of the movie right after that thinly veiled invasion of privacy scene with Morgan Freeman in the monitor room. Shit was terrible.

    And I like the movie.

It never occured to me until now that people regarded The Dark Knight as a great film because of its philisophical content.

Some serious sadness in this thread.

When someones gotta lay down why Zelda or Mario is relevant, some shits wrong. Like, gamastura comments section shits wrong.

like walking around an empty height map for hours - a change Bethesda should look at.

The best part of Fallout. I don't know what it has if not that.

So now a money fire has to be lit under peoples asses to make worthwhile content. Nice.

The multiplayer is sort of interesting. It has the same feel of counter-strike in way, just with a continuous respawn. Hard choke points, rushing being a dangerous tactic... Not a lot of games have really nailed that but it comes close. It's also just as enraging as CS at times as well. Just have to keep grabbing myself from spawning and sprinting forward aimlessly. If you can cut that shit out, the game can actually be enjoyable.

It's kind of a shame there's barely any recoil control needed though. Every automatic is basically the same. Really just comes down to flavor for what gun or class you wanna use.

While I have enjoyed an RTS style game in Source before (Zombie Master), the concept of DOTA and the community it attracts makes this sound even less appealing than vanilla counterstrike to me.

How do you mash buttons in chess?

This sums it up in 2 words. Its a "ticks the boxes" FPS.

It is, but it seems odd everyone's taking a dump on this with Black Ops around the corner, which will surely garner the coveted 85-90% with the same exact faults, simply staged behind a veil of a lot of shit exploding every 10 feet and dubious phrases like 'production values'.

But it's still a poor game...

It's actually a pretty competent game. Nothing so far has indicated to me that it was poorly made.

Ginger Lord was telling me today how bad the SP was, with multiple occurrences of getting stuck over a 10 minutes play session. Getting in buildings with no way outs until you snipe two guys at a distance with no hint whatsoever as to what to do etc...

This is pretty standard fare. Hard to single it out. It's the unwritten rule of your buddies can open doors but you can't. Nothing new.

The pacing, the smaller enemy count and the subject matter help it out a lot. Lean and slide don't hurt either. It's less spectacle and flash than maybe expected, but allows for a breather and more paced encounters, I think.

Taking it for what it is, it works.

Finished Metroid Other M. Aside from some, what I hope, were really bad translations, it's pretty solid. Combat is simple but it's snappy and fun. It's interesting how it's presumably a 3D game but things like hallways still work in a 2D way by always guiding you down the center of the hallway, regardless of bends and changes in direction. The first person view works in the most basic sense. I'm not sure there was much done with it that couldn't have been accomplished otherwise, but the motion of switching between views was cool, I guess.

But mostly it just made me wanna play Metroid Prime.

Back to getting pissed at starcraft 2 until Reach.

It's good. It's very much like the original game. Story focus with heavy ass cars in a period done well. I'm only a few chapters in so I haven't got the big picture for the story.

Everyone's getting it wrong expecting sandbox. It's not about getting into a sewage truck and spraying shit on people or trying to do wicked sick jumps off 50 ramps placed around the map. It's simply an open world and nothing more.
