I've never seen this happen a lot. I've seen maps from leaked games being used more often than this.
Anyway, both are annoying and show disrespect for true skills. Good to see such people banned.

It's those dark area's. I suppose they represent wheel tracks? Anyway, they make the road look very bumpy so to say. Only the edges should be like that I think.
I don't remember your name from the VERC. I've seen you on counterstrike.nl though.
As for that lighting problem, I don't remember having had a fight about that. Oh well, I've made quite some posts on the VERC forums, so I could've forgetten a few...
// Mhh, signature's aren't added to posts dynamically? I only got my sig on the latest post I made. Oh well.
I know I have to mail in order to apply, but my connection went down just before I could send the mail. You should have received it by now though.
As for the reputation issue, mapping for me is a hobby, not a profession. This way I can make sure I finish some more maps instead of having a ton of half-finished stuff on my HD.
Also, I believe I haven't introduced myself here on Mapcore yet.
Well, I'm Captain P, a 19 years-old student software engineering living in The Netherlands. My interests are mainly drawing and mapping. Besides that I do some low-poly modelling, texture art and coding as well.
I'm currently modeller for Starlabs, a Half-Life modification.
So, good to see you guys... ![]()
I believe a mappers bad maps can be valuable though, as they show some of the progress he made throughout time. They also show the interests of the mapper, e.g. style, preferred theme's and all.
Also, when I run through my old maps again, I really get back some good memories sometimes. It's like a sort of diary.
So, that's why I keep about a GB or two of them on my HD... ![]()
The idea of a mapping mosaic sounds interesting. I've seen people trying to create a map together, and I'm currently giving it a try with some fellow Dutchies as well, but the idea to release several mosaic maps in a row sounds fun. School only has 4 weeks left to throw at me, so count me in.
Maybe you remember the Darktruth mod? They made maps first to show off their qualities, then they started recruiting. Those maps were for that purpose only, if I remember correctly... I think that example shows the importance of the impression you make on others pretty well...
Too bad even that mod died.
That surely looks impressive, yes.
As for the marine versus alien type, it's indeed used a lot these days, but so is the WWII theme. I don't think that necessarily stands in the way for a good game experience.
Well, we'll see. The graphics look promising, that's all I can tell right now.
