Really unnatural animations on her walking around, and I don't know if I like clicking puzzle games (I fucking hate Myst).I really want some old school LucasArts style stuff, though. Give me a box full of wind up bunnies and a minefield any day.

the old lucasarts stuff rocked, I miss them all.

looks promising. I love adventure / puzzle games like this.

I just wish the character didn't wear the same clothes throughout the entire game. Looking though the screenshots it got a little old seeing the main character so static. There's gotta be a better way to add some dynamics to them.

    CromWell":16hl9raa]Ok, here my specs:Athlon 2600 XP

    Radeon 9800 Pro

    1GB Ram

Video Settings :1024x768, No AA, No AF, NO HDR, Rest is Low or Medium

Okay thanks, I used two systems in my own tests.

    System 1:

    Athlon 2500+

    1 GB RAM

    6800 GT

1024X768 AA 2x, medium for rest of settings. HDR: no / Bloom: no

Indoors were smooth, outdoors played fairly well. I did get some fps drops here and there outside but never unplayable, averaged around 25 – 50 outside and 60+ indoors.

    System 2:

    Intel 930 3.0 GHz

    1 GB RAM

    6800 GT OC

1024x768 AA 4x, high for rest of settings, HDR: no / Bloom: yes

    Indoors extremely smooth – 100+ fps, outdoors average 50 – 90 fps

Next time I won’t design the map around such a large open area. Since beta 1a this map has dramatically improved fps if you can believe it. In the end I wish I could have made most of the dam a model or at least a func_detail. Also the ceiling was quiet high because of the dam. That sorta threw a wrench into the mix. Overall I learned many things when I created this map. I didn’t take the large open areas in consideration when I originally worked on the layout. Lesson learned…. Thanks for the feedback.

Why not listen to me ?My portfolio is actualy twice as big as the portfolio on my site. A couple of NDA's and wips withold me from adding all the news stuff. Content should be doubled by the end of the year. When I started in the industry I only had my UT1 levels and 1 UT2003 map.

More encouraging stuff. How long have you been doing LD Hourences?

that's all really good info guys. good to know.

For me, i'm concentrating my efforts on getting levels finished right now. I always have at least one project on the table with several others still in the conception stage, either working on layouts or concept art. From what I understand 10 levels seems to be the magic number for a portfolio. Well should I include 8 decent levels along with 2 really good ones or should I work on creating 5 stellar levels and scrap all the decent ones?

    Please advise.

Also as a follow up, I've had a couple mods talk to me about joining their teams. So far I'm reluctant to say yes as I'm worried the mod could either fail or just plain suck, waisting valuable time and efforts. Would that more detrimental than going solo producing levels on my own or is working with a team more important even if it doens't fully get off the ground.

a damn shame really. I feel like I either have to start cranking out levels (currently doing) or join a mod to even have a chance.

question: do you think they'd look at a demo reel even if they HR dept didn't qualify the resume?

i don't wnat to throw the thread off topic but is there a matrix somewhere showing the average age of people working in the industry?

sometimes I feel like I've gotten off to a late start and it's prolly too late to get a job in the industry. I'm a gamer for life and I know there will be a certain demand for more mature titles in the future games so that gives me a little hope but who knows, right now it's all pipe dreams.

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose. Gave me a cramping attack and my buddy thought i would die Also it tastes just disgusting. Don't do it!

Steppenwolf i had to look up what you were talking about casue I've never heard of it. Here's a a couple lines from wikipikia:

"The common dose is about 7 or 8 seeds, which are ground or chewed and eaten. The experience duration can range from 4 to 12 hours with mild effects occasionally lasting into a few days and is usually accompanied with gastric discomfort, including severe nausea and flatulence."

the thought of severe flatulence made me laugh.

write final instead of fixed next time. it seems more professional - like you didn't make a mistake in the first place, just made it better.

    bingo!

    good call. thx.

And thinking about it... maybe I can wait for Valve or TRS to release tides in HDR, that way i don't have to touch the skybox. There's my final

It's just that its starting to get so old and so boring. Most of us here have played CS since it came out (And I'm not talking about going official). And we almost never play it anymore, sadly though, there aren't many mods out out there :/

that's cool, i've been playing since beta 4 and sure it gets old. I just take long enough breaks from it that its still fun when i come back to it.

    yo mapcorians,

I've started my new level last night. atm i'm working on layout and whiteboxing.

For this project I'm shooting for at 50 - 70% custom textures and a models. I'll be doing textures and mapping but I cant model for shit, hence this post.

If anyone is interested or has any questions please post em here. I'd like to have this project completed in no more than 5 months max. below are a few details on the map. So far I have tons of ref pics but still in the process of getting more.

    Level Type: CS:S defuse

    Engine: Souce

    Setting: Modern Day

    Theme: Airport Terminal & Gates

I'd really like to team up with a modeler for this project. I've have one release to date. http://www.mapcore.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5003

if you're looking to expand your portfolio or just wanna practice please hit me up.
