Quote from ginsengavenger
no, Lachapelle. he's behind a lot of music videoey stuff, such as that naked lipstick lady. i think he did a britney spears video and that hideous burger king commercial that rapes that one song from o brother where art thou.you can find it under the link i posted before
I was talking mainly about the portraits he's made. Those are hot.

Roofs like that don't have ledges. And even if they do, they're not like in your map. They're too high, too small, and they're only on flat roofs, not on these.
-
Get yourself some good concept photos. Then, with everything you put into your map wonder about why, and how people would use it. Things just don't make sense in your map. The walkway on the roof in the last picture makes no sense. Grass growing on a rock wall like this? No way! 'Because i think it looks cool' is no reason to just put something in your map. Just do some RPG in your map and you'll notice soon enough is something could have been a real world eh

Well, i can only say that i was very wrong about this so thanks for the information. /starts toying with shaders

It'd be hard yes, but i think 'hard' shouldn't be a problem for these people.

ack ;x
Didn't realise things were that advanced in level texturing now. Anyway, then just get the most awesome advanced book on texturing you can find.
-
Well, i got myself a good book just about Photoshop, not specifically about texturing. Like ginsengavenger once said, a lot can be learned by just fiddling around in Photoshop and practising a lot, but there are some advanced techniques that need to be taught. I really agree, that's what books can be useful for. So i would most definately not get the book that is just an introduction to Photoshop but i'd go for the most advanced book you can find. As long as it is about making textures for levels. CG Texturing is just something different, i doubt refraction maps will be used for levels anytime soon.

That's a really nice overview, might try getting one of those.

Sigur Rós - Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása

I really don't like this to be honest. It's just that things don't match. Architecture is ok, but the texturing just doesn't make sense.

I agree with RD!!!!!! They should definately move away from what they're doing right now, quit the generic industrial dark space station style and actually make something that amazes people. The individual models and texture seem good overall, but the game as a whole is just a boring concept.
