JJ Abrams kind of did this with the new Star Trek movies, especially the 2nd one. Making fanboys happy by adding tributes/remakes of a classic scene or character into the new movies.

When Glenn, Michonne and the others were hiding in the store Michonne confronted that one dude and said something like

"Have you ever been covered with so much blood you weren't sure if it's yours, your friends or the roamers?!?"

I think this was a clever reference to what would happen at the end of the episode -> we can't be sure if the guts the zombies were pulling out were Glenn's or Nicholas's.

This is why I don't think Glenn is dead

I listened to the audiobook a month(?) ago and saw the movie today. Very much enjoyed the movie although wish I hadn't read the book before as it 1) obviously spoiled the movie 2) I was constantly comparing the movie to the book while watching it. I loved the opening scene with the Alien tribute (title and music). Solid 3.5 / 5.0

Book spoilers / comparison & whine ahead

Overall I think it was a good film adaptation of the book. A few things that I would have liked to see in the film:

    - Losing communication to JPL before long roadtrip to MAV (because it made the road moar dangerous / thrilling)

    - The big storm during roadtrip to MAV (because JPL observing the situation helplessly creates moar desperation)

    - Triangulating direction of the storm (because it was a very cool way to deal with the problem)

Just watched the Season 6 opener. Didn't blow my mind but wasn't complete bullshit either. I'm hoping the story is going to start progressing faster this season (it seems to be) and they get rid of the filler episodes where they just roam around the countryside encountering random zombies while killing off semi-important cast, oh wait that's the whole show. Anyways, I hope this season won't disappoint.

is it uncommon as an artist to just lose interest / their muse to design for periods of time?

I lost interest for 4 years, after that I realized being creative and creating shit is the only thing keeping me from going bonkers.

Agreed, also probably has the best & most satisfying ending in any movie I've seen.

Today I released the first version of an Android platformer game I've been working on for roughly 3 weeks now. It's the first Unity project I've released and essentially a way for me to teach myself the tools. I came up with the design and the gameplay mechanics back in 2009 but never actually had the time to make the game. Planning on adding atleast 10 levels a week to the game, currently it's a fairly quick play with only 32 levels.

Been working with Unity for a couple of months now and it's fantastic. Before, I had this weird and negative attitude towards game engines and UE/Unity type tools. Thoughts like "Using a tool like that is cheating, writing my own game engines is the true way of game development".

This spring I finally got it. 1. I'm not in the game engine development business, I'm in the game development business. 2. I'm one dude, Unity has whole teams purely dedicated to developing tools. 3. They're handing out UE and Unity for free.

Also I put a bigger project on hold and am currently making a platformer game for the past week for Android, mainly as a way to teach myself more Unity. It has a free advertisement based business model, not really expecting a lot of income from it.

Made a semi funny credits level for it today, here's a video:

I had seen the kickstarter materials and that music video by David Hasselhoff so that kind of ruined it for me. Got a strong "I've already seen this movie" feeling in my head while watching it.

I think people who have not heard anything about this movie will enjoy it the most.

Enjoyed it, a lot of action. First scene and the last scene were probably the best ones.

This frame/pose gave me nerd chills

  • You can now sell content through Steam Workshop

    • JAL

I guess most of the issues about selling mods on Steam Workshop have already been discussed here.

As a concept I think it's a good idea to create a marketplace for mods. I don't see big problems with revenue sharing percentages, it's the original publishers choice so

modders can protest it, just deal with it or release free mods. Although I don't agree with the 25% that Bethesda chose.

Increasing modders revenue percentage would atleast in theory attract more mod developers.

The only two pitfalls that need to be solved imo are the following:

    - Selling stolen and other peoples content as your own.

    - Quality control. I consider quality control for mods as unnecessary censorship but seeing Steam Workshop full of Skyrim horse nutsacks for $99 is not what I'm looking forward to. Maybe have the original publisher approve paid content(?)

Anyways, I'd rather play free mods but if I see something worth a buy I'd probably spend money on a mod.

I think the Daredevil netflix series is pretty good, still got a couple episodes left. The casting and or portrayal of Kingpin could have been better.

I mean instead of selecting the animations to play in your script, you can just pass parameters and the animator controller will handle the transitioning.

Works for certain situations I guess, but I find it very very powerful

Vince Vaughn is the wild card in this cast. Amazing mustache on Colin Farrell. I'm sure it will be good in any case, those HBO production values.
