    Thx for the flowers!

Spherix. That's not wood tho. They used some plastic with a artificial marble pattern. What i also found during research is that there is a myriad of slight variations as far as colors go, roughness of surface and even some of the metal shapes. I guess because these guns used to be hand crafted. So as far as realism goes ther's a bit of room for creativity and personal taste. I made one mistake with the rear sights. I used a newer model for ref there and only realised when i already was in the middle of texturing. In the old ones they were carved out directly from the hammer metal piece.

SteppenWolf, its looking good, but work on the material, unless you want it to look like plastic toy

but i assume you want to be more like metal.

As i said i'm struggling a bit with it. If you have any tips i have a open ear. When i push the edge wear and scratches more it tends to look like oldschool texturing, more painted on then actual wear. When i go down with the specular sharpness then fine details like the fingerprints disappear. Hard to find the right balance.

The grips i need to beat up a bit and perhaps add some of it to the normal. Also need to change specular color. In all my refs it reflects white light not the orange color of the grip itself.

Made a Walther PPK for practice. Texture too clean? I kinda always struggle between too cartoony or too noisy when i try to push my textures more.

edit: ah shit just realised the wireframe is slightly visible in these shots. gonna post some more when i put final touches on the texture

my only disappointment with the game so far is the lack of enterable businesses. i want to go buy a chicken burger or rob a 7-11. i understand it would probably be pretty difficult with the sheer amount of content and the crappy hardware but it starts to feel a little bit like GTA4 where there wasn't enough to do in the city and driving around became pointless.

That sucks to hear. It's probably what annoyed me the most about GTA IV.

I utterly hate crime, violence, gang culture etc. irl but i never had any moral troubles playing the scum of the earth in a game. Personaly i'm not bothered in the slightest by the things The Escapist criticized. To the contrary it made me look even more forward to playing the game. I think i will wait for the PC version tho.

Agree with Thrik. When i hear f2p my interest in a game just vanishes. I rather pay a monthly fee then to play something that gives me constant feeling of being drained of cash or worse to have to pay for win.

Personaly i'm a big fan of Eve's payment model. You can pay a monthly subsciption with either real money or ingame money. It works like this: People with too much real cash but who suck at aquiring cash ingame pay for 30 day licenses, which turn into ingame items and then can be sold to other players who have too much ingame cash but not enough real life cash.

This works great imo. Prices are pretty ok. I pay for 3 accounts with ingame cash without breaking a sweat, don't have to grind for it, just do some very casual trading. If i had to grind money for my 3 accounts i could do it in 2-3 evenings.

This indirect connection between real money and ingame money is btw the reason why sometimes you read news that some players lost a 9000$ ship or something in Eve.

I hope this will be implemented into Eve eventualy like they did with Dust 514. It's what Eve lacks the most to be the perfect space game: direct control over your ship. Have my doubt tho since it would never work in huge battles with thousands of players and their philosophy is not to have instances in the game.

What sucks for me as i got older is how symptoms of not enough sleep have changed. I used to feel just sleepy and yawned a lot during the day. But nowadays it makes me feel sick. I get headaches, feel dizzy and weak. I can even get panic attacks if it's really bad. The strange thing is i almost never yawn anymore or feel like taking a nap. It's like my body/mind doesn't know anymore what normal being tired is.

And what always was strange for me is that my biorhytm seems wired in a way as if days have 25 hours. Without discipline of when to go to bed and when to wake up i would always go to bed one hour later then the day before. Couple years ago when i was unemployed that lead to some strange sleep patterns like going to bed 11am one day and then a week later at 6pm etc.

I have picked up Dishonored last week. Started playing and didn't really like the direction my play took after the third mission (too easy, not stealthy enough) so started over again on hardest difficulty and now try to play through without killing anyone except mission targets.

Really nice game so far tho.

It's true that Eve is much about the metagame. That's what makes it fun imo. I like to scam, gank and ninja, collecting tears. The other thing that makes it fun to me is how dangerous it can be. Loses can hurt a lot. No other game has me so on the edge for hours and gives me such adrenaline kicks because of that. But that all comes from the metagame of player interactions, everybody trying to fuck over each other, setting traps, using all fair and unfair tricks, outsmarten enemies etc. The game itself, mechanics wise i think is pretty bad to be honest.

To not let the thread completely derail i will say that it would be cool if Star Citizen could fill in these gaps. I would love it if the game manages to couple what makes Eve great with actualy good gameplay mechanics. Tho i think it will end up to be the opposite of Eve. Good gameplay mechanics but all fluffy and nice metagame.

Eve isn't a space combat game. It's a space spreadsheet game.

Only when you do trading and industry or deal with the logistigs of a big corp/alliance, which in itself can be quite fun tho if you're into business simulation games.

The only thing that's keeping me from being even more hyped is that it's not a procedural environment. I would love to get lost in space.

I'm happy someone finally can make a decent space game after years of failures. I've been checking the genre for quite a bit and not too many spectacular hits unfortunately

Black Prophecy was a massive failure, Jumpgate Evolution seems like it's abandonware....There's another game now called Star Conflict but it's a F2P mess so it seems. I really hope they can pull this off, I've been waiting for a game like this!

Well ther's always Eve:Online. After 10 years it's going stronger then ever. It's huge, it's hostile. I play it a lot these days. Doesn't have the direct pilot control of your spaceship tho.
