its nice but u used to much mesh you could have just used 2 of the sides twice

This confused me. As far as I'm concerned, a mesh is an actual model, as in the polygons. How could you "use two of the sides twice"? Or are you talking about the texture, and how two of the sides could have used the save UV part? In which case do other people refer to the "mesh" as the UV layout or something?

A bit less fog would be nice, but don't go too far. With more (and stronger) lighting this could look VERY cool.

There are a whole load more white tiles, and the white tiles have borders with each other. The black tiles are all seperated from one another - therefore nobody will notice that they use they same texture

I agree - I've only seen a couple of maps in the past using the set. You aren't mixing it up with the "majestic" set are you? Now that really IS overused.

LOL! Gotta love that exceptional character that graces the right hand side of their website. Isn't that just an orange doom helmet stuck on some horrendously designed body?

Greyscale pictures are ones that only consist of greys (ie. don't feature colour). Many people refer to them as "black and white" pictures. The contrast in a picture is the strength of difference between its bright and dark areas. Highly contrasting pictures will have colours (or shades of grey) that stand out from each other, and this normally makes the picture more interesting and "alive" I guess. I'm not photographer, but I think those are reasonable explanations.

Architecture could use some spicing up, as at the moment it seems that everything is flat. Flat walls, flat ceilings, flat floors. Ceilings in particular need work in my opinion.

Considering breakfast is essentially the first meal you eat after waking, its surely rather impossible to miss it. If you mean it just in the sense of a morning meal, then I too haven't had one in a good while now and, at least visibly, I've not gained any weight.

  • i'm looking to buy a camera...

I'm looking to grab a fairly cheap digital camera for snapping real world reference pictures, and perhaps a little bit of texture work. I don't really wanna spend more than £250, and as I'm not really looking to break into photography for photography's sake, I don't think I should really need to. Anybody got any good recommendations in this price range? At the moment I'm thinking that the Fujifilm Finepix S5500 (also known as S5100 in some places) seems like a real bargain at around £175, being a 4MP camera with 10x optical zoom. Would this be suitable for my purposes? Reviews I've read make it out to be a very respectable camera.

Wolf is a bit of a legend from HL1 mapping - rapidcore and isotonic were both levels of his, and who could forget Lost Village and its sequel Didn't know he did modelling or texture work, but he certainly knows how to make a good DM map.

A mapper is just a level designer, people use the terms interchangably.

While the obvious route for making models for a game is through a mod, there is no reason why you can't just make whatever you like and release it on its own. As you are doing environment modelling much of the stuff you make probably isn't going to be suited for use as "props" for level designers (eg. this pier building), but if you ever do any smaller scale models (eg. trees, shopping trolleys, furniture, etc...), then if you release them people will quite possibly find a use for them. Whether or not there are cartoony mods out there, I quite often find myself playing around with cartoony level themes and I reckon that if there were model resources out there in that theme, others might do the same.

Nice start. Could use nicer lighting (are you going to try and emulate the old lighting? or entirely new?) and obviously a bit more detail, but the basic form of the room has translated nicely. Been ages since I've seen anything new from your camp

Fact is, she'd be hotter in a bikini without crazily controller hair.

If I were to cosplay, unsurprisingly enough I'd go as Reno from FFVII. My hair is actually long enough to go into a ponytail just now (though hardly as impressively long as the character in question's), so with a bit of red hair die and a blue zip up suit, I'd just about be the part

Oh man, that first screenshot, showing both the wealth of corpses and blood, and the famous pistol, brings back some memories I see they found a second hottie to make up the numbers - Elexis Sinclair wasn't too great back in those days anyway While its hardly ground breakingly good looking, it looks solid enough so far. I'll most likely be a buyer, at least of the first episode considering the fairly low price.
