  • Interview with Garry on Shacknews

I seem to recall that Garry said some very nice things about The Ship, although I can't for the life of me remember where he said them, so I might have imagined it. Still, if he did, then I like Garry I must be one of the few people who hasn't actually played GMod though - it seems like a remarkable achievement, but it just isn't my sort of thing.

Me too, I'm guessing it's a popular design stolen by a boat load of companies Mine broke really quick though, probably within a year - I've changed the bulb and the fuse but nothing brings it back to life.

I've still not got around to playing INS, but thought I'd lighten the tone in here a little by posting a review of it that I read on Eurogamer this morning. No score, but its a mostly positive review

Maybe it was to make it easier to notice which brushes were displacements. The public SDK version of Hammer didn't have the ability to render displacements in the 2D views until a while after release, so I guess they might not have had that internally either. That approach would make it quicker to differentiate between displacements and world brushes.

Kotaku is generally my first port of call for games news to be honest - I think it does its job better than most.

They aren't the only ones to complain though - Koei cite issues with UE3 as their reason for dropping/delaying/whatever they are now doing with Fatal Inertia on the PS3, and Phil Harrison from Sony also said that the engine does have troubles with the PS3. Not really related of course given that both of those are PS3 specific and Too Human is a 360 game, but figured it was worth mentioning.

I don't know enough about the SK/Epic case to have an opinion on who is in the wrong TBH.

Well noticed given the lack of subwoofer in the shots; it lies just between both of the shots, below the window. Absolutely love those speakers; that and the HDTV are easily two of the best things I've ever spent money on

I think you're just beating me on games there KFS - I've got 272, across consoles and PC. I totally let myself down on the PC front; only own about 40

And Eternal Darkness, also for the Gamecube! I watched my flatmate play it and he loved it, and I've also got myself a copy but, well, the Gamecube hasn't been used for a while... I'm sure I'll give it a whirl one of these days, as it did look cool

Hehe, think you're right there; looking at the screenshots again it seems that the same arrangement of rugs can be seen at the bottom of the stairwell Odd way to handle rugs I'd have thought - more flexible to have each as a unique overlay and let the designer place them as they like surely?

Hehe, I love the placement of the "No Dogs Allowed" sign on that rope thing - kinda suggests it's there to warn dogs off trying it for themselves

On the topic of rugs - rug overdose! I can count 7 of them in that last shot, and I've a sneaking suspision there may be a few more lurking just off camera Is there a reason for it? You seem to have loads stacked in that room KFS commented about as well

I don't think we should assume he was getting paid peanuts at Microsoft either though guys

Is $330,000 a lot when moving in the US? That wouldn't buy you much at all in the UK. Even £330,000 wouldn't buy something that a you'd expect a man like Moore to live in.

I think Allard is more of a hardware guy - one the 360 was "done" he moved on to the Zune team IIRC.

So the news today is that Peter Moore has resigned from Microsoft and accepted a position within EA instead. Apparently due to family/personal reasons as opposed to issues with the company or recent Xbox events (such as the extended warranty issue), although I've no doubt its not EXCLUSIVELY so he can move back to San Francisco

    http://kotaku.com/gaming/confirmed/pete ... 279437.php

I'm rather sad to see him leave MS to be honest, as he was earning a lot of respect from the gaming community for being a relatively open, honest, and laid back spokesperson. He did a great job at the helm of the Xbox IMO, and he's left fairly big boots for the new man to fill. I was very much surprised to hear the news and I was getting kinda used to the 3 companies and their public faces, but with both Allard and Moore gone for Xbox now I'm not really too familiar with theirs anymore.

Anybody have any thoughts on the topic?

Give some consideration to Exit, Killzone: Liberation, and Field Commander, Taylor - all of them are pretty good, which is sort of rare for non-racing games on the PSP I haven't played mine in months to be honest, but it is handy on occasions. I don't regret buying it, but then I never regret buying anything to do with games for some reason
