They wouldn't be American Christians because American Christians don't read international news

Yeah, but they are crazy religious yahoos anyway, so they don't need a reason to go nuts.

  • Oscar Nominees

I think Oscars are bullshit, they always pick the movies from the top of the box office, and give the movies like 15 nominations and bull crap like that.

I would LOVE if they actually had a wide range of movies, and I mean wide, like a hundred movies or so.

It seems like an easy pick when they give a nomination for one movie for lead actor, they just give the movie some other nomination just because it is already there so they don't have to look further.

Like why the hell hasn't anyone given Johnny Depp an Oscar? Not a single movie he has done deserves an Oscar? Not one?

I completely agree with posty here, even tho I'm a big fan of freedom of speech (aka. pissing people off) there are some people that don't take everything with a grain of salt.

I can guarantee that if some newspaper in middle-east published same kind of pictures of Jesus as a warmonger, many Christians would go nuts. Same with everything else.

It wasn't that long ago when I saw in the news, some Hindu extremists burning a guy because he was wearing a cross on his neck in India, they said it insults the land or some bitching like that.

The problem caused here might be just a handful of people, it doesn't reflect the Muslim majority in any way.

no suspense. Just recall the history. in 2004 it was supposed to ship in 2004. In 2005 it was supposed to ship in 2005. Unpredictable things happened in both years. Now in 2006 we all hope it will actually ship. Given it is still January 2006, a lot can happen between now and Dec 31, 2006. So....we'll see what happens.

I had a time where I explored the vast resources of stoner rock and doom metal (yeah, yet another metal genre whopdedoo), so I love Kyuss, also Electric Wizard is good, Eagles of Death Metal is cool too, and Homme's "The Desert Sessions" is awesome.

Me and some of my friends like the idea of calling acoustic music either Jazz, Prog Rock, Rock and Heavy Rock (or just Heavy), since those main genres seem to hold the test of time, true you could just have Jazz, Rock and Pop, but I don't like over generalizing either, it's like saying "hey you listen to sound?".

But music business is so large these days that you need some genres of other means of describing the music if you don't know any similar bands or records. But it has just gotten out of hand because it almost feels that every band needs their own genre. It used to be a movement like proge rock and not arbitrary word used by musican to describe his work.

So basically it means that if they want some evil man outside of GSC to finish the project, he will take another completely different game and change thing or two, and then release it as stalker.

I just never understood the reasoning behind categorizing and subdividing bands of a genre.

Says a guy who is called erratic

Well jokes aside, I like to use the major genres to describe the band if you can't give any similar bands as examples (if he doesn't know the bands for example) but it also can be a hindering, since for example my cousin says he hates Jazz even if he doesn't actually know what Jazz is and don't know how wide Jazz as a genre is (music style over 100 years old is way more than meets the eye/ear).

But I agree that genres are one of the most stupid things human kind has come up with, especially you can see the stupidity of it in Metal, there are more genres than there are bands. But Metal is full of elitists that try to make themselfs seem superior by describing that "they don't listen to Death Metal but the ovbiously better offshoots of it called Chopchop Metal and Hikkerydoo Metal".

I was disilluded with rock either untill I found Queens of the Stone Age

You might like Josh Hommes earlier band Kyuss too, also there are tons of similar good stoner rock bands like Orange Goblin but make sure you pick up "The Big Black" since it is widely regarded as their best, then there are Fu Manchu, Nebula, Masters of Reality. Also, same kind of straight forward manly rock is Monster Magnet that rocks very very much.

If you want more stoner rock or just some bands that can direct you to different directions and to new genres, just ask.

So what one can really say.

I have been waiting for the game from the first moment I heard about the project (they didn't even have a publisher I think) but I was almost sure that it would a) be one of those Max Payne, Duke Nukem Forever prjects or b) somehow pooped on by some publisher trying to squeeze chunk of money out of the developer or the hopeful wishing c) turn out perfect.

So I guess parts a and b are coming to fruitition, let's hope part c does so aswell

I can't believe what I'm reading. People are complete retards, ofcourse there are bad and cheesy bands in metal scene, but name one scene there isn't.

I listen to everything that the world produces, there isn't a single major genre that I don't like or don't have CDs or LPs from. Metal works in moods where metal works, like I'm not inviting my girl here for a candle light dinner and put a King Diamond on the stereos, I put some soft music like jazz or blues. But when I'm at the skate park with my friends we usually blast away with metal or hc punk, not with jazz or r&b.

Besides, I might need to get a frontal lobotomy to understand that "Heavy metal can damage your ears at high volume and it can deal later with tinitus" theory, so you are actually saying that listening any other music maxed out doesn't hurt your ears? Wow, I'm really glad to hear that.

I may sound harsh, but fuck that, I'm mean and evil person anyway.

  • Lowpoly/Highpoly?

    • Kosmo
    • January 27, 2006 at 10:30 AM

And 3d mark stuff regardless of how fine it looks, still low poly stuff. It's done with the same limitations as games are.

But basically the terms just stand for polycounts, nothing else, high polygon models are usually used for pre-rendered video where lowpoly is usually used for models that are used for real time like games.

There is a stupid term of midpoly, but that is stupid even as an idea, but some supidheads want to have it. They use it to describe the models that normal maps are made of, since they usually are not so high poly as many high poly models (mid poly can range from few hundred thousand to even millions, but high poly are usually always millions of polygons and very very high detail).
