People who only visit to see flashy images might as well stay away imo.

With most of the members doing something graphically intense for games I think that is so strange point of view. I would agree if this forum was a programmer forum.

There is nothing WRONG with the forum, but it's like "there is nothing wrong with Mercedes Benz, but it could be Ferrari."

It looks awesome enough to buy.

But this reminds me, I should make the game I have been planning to make for so long. UT2k4 mod of Wizard of Wor, that game IS THE SHIT!

The feeling must be nasty *shivers*

I would also suggest that you drink water, but if it doesn't help, you should see a doctor, it might eventually scratch your throat and the would could get infected or something. Then they would have to amputate your head

Has anyone ever timed this board?

    GOD THIS REFRESHES SLOWLY!

But anyway. We should start by looking in to a fresh new look for the front page, new style for the board, maybe even upgrade this POS (or migrate like I suggested ) then take a look at how we could make the site part of this community more attractive than just the boards. I mean, at this state, this place is just a board, the site has nothing interesting on it.

Zone of the Enders was 5 hours. I wasn't too happy with that.

Yeah, that was bit of a let down.

    Robotech seems long tho.

I don't mind that much about short games, if they are awesome.

But with 3 hours of gameplay, it should be cheap.

Well the few ideas I got, were rather large. But that is what you get when you introduce a level 12 intelligence to a idea mill (for those that don't know, Brainiac 5 is a level 12 intelligence, the whole earth population is level 9 intelligence)

But enough with the jibba jabba!

Following kleineys idea and taking bit of Izuno, a popular game site Gamespot. I have come up with an idea that could work nicely.

Gamespot has pretty neat feature of reviewing games, I know, sometimes the reviews are crappy, but then again, the whole site is populated by something like molemen and such.

Mapcore, we have an advantage over many other sites, kinda like CGTalk, professionals who pay their bills working in the business.

Well, what I'm suggesting is that we have some sort of publishing system where we could review maps, the requirements would be that you have actually played the map, not necessarily played it in a server, but strolled through it, not just looked some pictures. Write a good review on how the map works and how does that graphics work and so on.

I know that there is a chance that ppl come here, and release awful maps that aren't serious or anything. But it's a risk involved here.

But there is also another idea that I like more, since I'm not a mapper, nor a professional, so my opinion about maps are purely from gameplay perspective.

The other idea is similar to Gamespots Freeplay, freeplay is basically a wordbridge, someone writes an article and the next one takes the end of that article and continues, this makes sure that ppl don't just write about the same damn thing all the time, the conversation moves on. We could present our own views in it and discuss about hot topics.

This could be achieved by using some blogging tool, they usually have user levels and we could give some members account and we could decide who writes article that month/week/day.

I think that 3d fits well for this kind of action/rpg game, kinda like silent storm.

Core certainly could use a new look, maybe something more contemporary, the forum looks like something from the 90s.

We could try other forum software.

I hate this phpBB and other like this. These are so cluttered with unnecessary doodads and such.

We could change to Vanilla or punBB, much faster and better designed software.

And there is no way it could be because the analog system has better quality speakers?

I didn't say that analog and digital isn't surround or that they are bad in quality, I just said that if you appreciate the true surround experience that you get in a movie theater, then there are very few options.

But the fact is that all sounds presented in games are placed in right channel by the soundcard, what in theory is emulated and not actually recorded for that channel.

What I heard from that sound engineer friend is that all surround sound systems sold to home users are mainly faking the surround sound.

The actual Pro Logic systems that you have in your movie theater cost in the ten thousand+ range and usually are pretty massive systems.

Besides, it's rather weak to use actual analog Pro Logic system on a computer where you play games, since all the sound source is emulated and digitally distributed by the soundcard, which actually is "faking it."

We could appoint people to tend certain "jobs" like there already are, like the Engine discussion threads where those who work with the engines answer to the questions.

It would bring more professional feel to the forum and it would make the forum more newbie friendly.

I watched the trailer for Bloodrayne, and lo and behold it actually looks like a normal movie! I'm many steps from saying good, but it didn't look "OMFG WTF LOL!" from the trailer alone, and that's a step in the right direction for good old Mr.Boll!

    Actually, there is a trick.

Movie industry isn't just something that produces movies all day long, it is actually venerable marketting force. When movie is done, no matter how bad it sucks ass, the army of poster makers, trailer editors and website monkeys put the movie out and project it to consumers minds.

As traditionally educated advertising graphic designer I understand things working background, and it is actually neat how these people make everything look so very cool.

I have learned not to trust what I see in trailers, posters or websites, as it is usually misleading.

The House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark and Bloodrayne (post-production) so far, but he has the rights for Farcry, Hunter: The Reckoning, Dungeon Siege (also in the makes), Postal and Fear Effect.

He is trying hard to get Half-Life and MGS rights like Dude said.

Granted, you can play as a drunkard or a psycho in Sims, but I'd rather go in to the jungle and stab people in the back in Farcry Instincts or lurk in the shadows in Thief 3

But anyway, the way I see sports games, or should I say basketball games since they are the only sports games I play, even if I can grab the ball and go out to toss it around, I still can't be Grant Hill and kick some major ass in Madison Square Garden.
