Well, take white page and fill it with slightly gray dots, and the overall color of the page turns dark. When you fill the page with dark gray buttons, and gray colors for the boxes and borders, you GET A DARKER DIRECTION.
Besides, the value of gray used on the buttons is just the gray that doesn't go well with other colors, especially the more vibrant colors like red and yellow.
The gray obviously seems to be a dark value of blue, then obviously different values of blue would work better. And I'm all for harmonious design and colors that don't fight with each other and blend in to their surroundings.

Pastel colors would be better than the current darker direction the core is taking.
Also, I think that I preferred the old logo over the new one, the new one is rather generic.
The button graphics for the profile and website etc. look like they were made by a 12-year old

Well, I think that it is fool to think that only US is doing this sort of things. I saw a document around year back in a movie festival that was about Russian prisoners in maximum security siperian prison compounds. And the living conditions were just straight out inhumane, the prisoners had zero contact to anything outside, most parts the public was unaware that there were such prisons and that there were prisoners there.
It was gruesome.
And what about Kosovo, that is not a pretty place either. And the same goes for Palestina, Israel conflict, neither of those sides give a flying fuck about each other, some human rights laws or any other agreements made since WW2.
It wasn't that long ago, when Turkey tortured it's prisoners (I'm thinking of 80s but it might have been even somewhere in the 90s also when they stopped it).

After SC 1 I have been done with the games, it was ok, but it wasn't THAT good. Watched my cousing play the Pandora Tomorrow and thought meh.
It's like WW2 games, you can only do so many interesting games, but eventually, you are running cicrles.
They should wait for some time before making a new version of the game, let other bring new ideas to the genre and then, top everything off, just like what the first one did.

Well if you are going for that editoresque look, you might want to look at some modern programs, 3D Studio Max, ZBrush 2, my personal favourite Modo.
No program uses the default win2k button style anymore.

This forum could go miles in minimalistic design.
Initial reaction was "Neat!" then it came to "What?" but I think I'm coming around. The design is nice, could use something more consistent, the lines take your eyes somewhere away from the content, pretty hectic in overall feel, but the colors are soothing so it balances it out nicely.
The navigation is clear, wordpress style, doesn't take you more than a nanosecond to figure out how to use the site, content is presented nicely, doesn't clutter. Tho there could be something happening vertically too, the horizontal action on the top just makes it feel like a horisontal site but with too long pages.

It's so easy to point fingers and say the other is worse. The United States really needs to clean its own closet before it forcibly cleans other's. Oh, and using Hussein's human rights violations as a reason for going to war doesn't work either. Genocides have occured in Sudan and Rwanda recently, much more recent and much more devastating than the Iraqi massacres. I wonder where their Knight in Shining Armor is... you already invaded Iraq once after the gasing of the Kurds, why didn't you deal with it then? Right, because the United States only cares about human rights violations when it serves their policy (kinda like their intelligence... funny).
Depleted uranium is not health threateningly radio-active . . . hence the term depleted. It has already expended all it's radiation.
Thats all a myth that someone assumed since they know uranium must be bad and know nothing about physics, but it's just gotta be bad becuase it's a buzzword and soon it's a movement even though nobody tried to look up the real facts. There is more background radiation from minerals in the ground than there is in depleted uranium.
Where do you think they would store all these rounds if they were able to make people so sick? In a giant concrete bunker? Whats shielding the people loading the rounds or the people in the tanks/planes where they rounds are loaded?
People are so fast to tack on these "facts" that fit thier arguments so well without ever reading proof that they are in fact true. In fact there have been several papers published about the non-effects of depleted uranium that I could go look for if anybody is really that interested in it.
True, Depleted Uranium has a long half-life which means that is has low radioactive qualities. BUT, it is very dangerous to your health, proof, Gulf War Syndrome.
Depleted Uranium can turn in to a fine dust in a fire, which just increases the risk of infecting you. True, there is still a debate going on in scientific community IF Depleted Uranium has these kind of qualities, but that doesn't take away the fact that the Gulf War veterans are almost two times more likely to have a child with bith defects than other war veterans.
I would like a theme that was more minimalistic than this. There is way too much going on here, confuses and scares me.
I know, most of the time any of us doesn't even notice the theme, we are all here for the content, right. But that doesn't mean that the theme couldn't be more lightweight and clear.
And regardless of how people try to twist my words, I don't think that the current theme has anything wrong, or is bad or anything. Mojo wanted suggestions, and may god try to stop me, I give him feedback.
But anyway. Mojo, if you need help in anything, let me know, I know thing or two about thing or two.
