That's why it's called tv show. Why everything needs to be realistic? What kind of series you watch then if they need to be realistic?

It's not about the show not being absolutely realistic and true, but it is just annoying when the show tries to be ultra realistic and then they have so big mistakes that it makes it look more unreal than Battlestar Galactica. It just jumps out when they try to make a hyper realistic TV show and the whole season is just mere 24 hours, it hurts my brain, nothing happens that fast.

Like if you watch Andromeda or Stargate Atlantis, you never have that kind of problem, they openly admit that they are straigh cock and bull. But Mythbusters is a great show to watch if you want realism and excitement

You might want to do some colorfix on the parts that are taken from photo and the parts you have hand painted, since I can see a slight color variation there. Tho I don't know if you can actually see that in the model, but you can spot it from the texture map

    But cool

  • In-game Ads in CS

I think there has been uncommercial advertising in CS before, long time ago there was a banner in dust2 near the CT start (it was some game site but don't remember which one.)

I tried to watch the show, but my brain is flawed, it just can't accept a TV show that has so unrealistic pace, 5 minute flight from LA to somewhere in Mexico seems highly unrealistic.

I'm fine with advertising, as long as it doesn't go over the top and tries to appeal the target market and not try to sell viagra in CS maps or toothpaste in NS maps.

Advertising when done right, actually adds to the reality, the world is full of ads, you are surrounded by them, so how come the game world that tries to imitate the world doesn't?

And second, newspapers, tv and magazines wouldn't sell adspace if they didn't need to, in the world of increasing development costs, this will be true to the game development world also. They have to sell adspace to stay afloat. And a well placed ad in GTA advertising Rockstars latest game would be fun to see.

I liked the Equilibrium, got it on DVD, nice movie where they don't throw in the typical "survival story of an underdog" like the other ALL HOLLYWOOD FILMS, I like more about the typical Japanese approach (also known as Kurosawa hero) where the main character is overpowered compared to the villans and he just goes in and mops the floors with baddies, even tho the baddies seem like badass and all. The hero always prevails, but without that Rocky crap.

I'm positively looking forward to this, and backwards, since you never know who might suprise you from behind.

I miss the great adventure game days. What's a good modern one to play?

I guess you can do like I do, wait for the new Sam n' Max from Telltale games. I'm 100% sure that it will rock your socks off.

people are still complaining that fps's on consoles suck? I though halo proved that they dont years ago

Oh, I think that no one that said so didn't mean that the game itself sucked, like medal of honor series has had some great moments, nice story, and quality all the way. Halo and Metroid series are prime (aha prime) examples of that, but what they are saying is that consoles has possibly, totally the worst user interface for controlling such games. Just like for RTS games, the pad doesn't just cut it.

FPS games, who trades mouse & keyboard for a pad?

RTS games, mouse & keyboard for pad?

Simulator, joystick or wheel & pedals for pad?

MMORPG, mouse & keyboard for pad?

Consoles have a big problem on this department, the pad just works for so few games, and if you are trying to give me immerse FPS experience and "loose" me in to the action or realistic simulator and make me thing that I actually am a mech pilot or a race car driver, you have to do better than a batarang.

Now Revolution is on the right track, but unless they come up with something more than nunchaku, it will miss some great potential, they offer us the perfect interface for many games, but at the same time give us the worst possible interface for fighting games for example.

    Oh my GOD!

That has to be bullshit, no game can look that sweet!

But watching those screens just makes me wonder, the ultimately positively the most greatest studio producing visuals, Square Enix will literally blow our minds away with the stuff they can do for Final Fantasy games.

My wildest dreams are pale compare to this, I was going through my mind on how games will look in the next-gen consoles, but this is OFF THE HOOK!

But now, it would rock to hear some technical specs of the games that are made for the PS3 and Xenon, how much polygons, how big texture maps (and how many) so that we can start to explore the possibilities.

So many games to list, but I have said about a million times.

Adventure games made with Scumm engine are the best games ever.

    Monkey islands

Sam n' Max: Hit the Road

    Day of the Tentacle

    Full Throttle

    The Dig

But this is something I really would like you all to try out, it's a great concept but the team is not that good.

Neocron a sci-fi cyberpunk MMORPG, it's almost a straight copy of the best game of all times System Shock 2, but it is set in to a world copied from one of the best comic books of all time Judge Dredd, the game has it all if you are into cyberpunk.

It has a 10 day trial, I suggest that if you have the time you go and check it out, I promise that you fall in love with it, even if it has more bugs than Anarchy Online had when it first came out.

Go out and check it out.

  • Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD

    • Kosmo
    • January 13, 2006 at 11:02 AM

Why can't we just fuck HD-DVD and Blu-Ray both, they are retard products. We should go with a holographic disc instead, DVD can hold up for atleast another 3 years or so, or did I miss HOW exactly we CAN'T have multi disc games in DVDs, why all of a sudden whe absolutely positively have to have everything in one god damn disc?

Besides, why are we losing a format that hasn't been even properly accepted? DVDs are not that widely used in anything else than movie distribution, games are picking up, and music is way behind. Where did the idea of all of a sudden to rush to a new incomplete format?

Why are we even talking about accepting a new format, neither of which are actually fully developed. Did intelligence all of a sudden drop in the world? Do we actually need to push HDTVs (the #1 reason the Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs are being pushed to the market so agressively) in to the market so fast, failing in major areas at the same time?

Everybody just forgot what happened to digital television, UMTS cellphone applications and all these "remarkable" new inventions that were supposed to change our lifes forever? They were introduced as the best thing ever to happen on humanity, like fucking cure for cancer and better than viagra, and still none of them are widely used and not used for the applications that were promised to us when the new technologies were pushed to the market.

I think everyone who thinks that either of these formats is great is just blind retard corporate sock puppet spoonfed with illusions.

The same thing happens every 6 months when ATI and nVidia launch their latest e-penis enlargers, we are just now starting to use the full potentiality of Radeon 9800 series cards, the technological advancements that they brought. So how is this any different? A new format? Big whoop, it's going to be widely accepted after around 5 years of use.

    Thanks.

Finally they are making a remake of a GOOD map, I remember one time, me and my cousin were on a server where we abused the server script and voted extend time for couple of days worth of Militia.

Maybe they will start to make more remakes on other such good maps like Trainyard and Nuke.

  • 'I'd rather my son take coke than play video games'

    • Kosmo
    • January 12, 2006 at 12:51 PM

I enjoy occasional toke when I'm playing, but I also toke when I'm out. But would I take coke instead of playing a game? Or rather, would I let my kid use coke rather than let him play a game, I guess the answer is that there are literally millions of people who play video games and still are functional part of the society, and then there are millions of people who are drug abusers who are a burden to the society and not at all functional people in any level.

I would let my kid play video games.

  • Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD

    • Kosmo
    • January 12, 2006 at 12:44 PM

I'm obviously going for HD-DVD because of it being an actual standard accepted by an organization that decides what is standard and what is not.

But, ultimately, I'm not completely siding with neither, since I hate the idea of a format war, I'm rather using the good ol' DVD than touch either of them before the clear winner is announced.

    Fuck em both equally.

Well, I think many of us think that politics and religion have nothing to do with each other, so religious discussion category would make sense, but then again, political and religious discussion have one thing in common. Both of them are based in opinions and not facts, so they most likely have a place in the same category.

Maybe we should rename political discussion to jibba jabba.
