Just finished it. loved it. Ending was a bit of a let down. Still loved every minute of gameplay. Looked great. Better than FEAR.

    I say 9.6 out of 10.

the soft shadows look teh crap, anyway.

This game chokes on my machine with the same settings as any other game.

    I've got a AMD 64 3500+

2x512 Kingston HyperX RAM PC 3200 Dual Channel

ASUS Geforce 7800 GTX PCIE 16x

I can have 1280x1024 on any game full res maxed aa and as and it runs smooth as butter. Try to do the same thing in fear, run horrible. Fear does not even look impressive enough to bog down my system the way it does. BF2, COD2, Doom3, Painkiller, Source, etc, all look a lot better and run smoother than fear.

    I'm quite dissapointed.

But in this day and age, you're beginning to not need a distributor. We have the internet. Steam is a shining example. If you are dedicated enough, you can get a small team together not thinking about the profit or the cost, and even if its just in your spare time, you can make and release something that could be truly amazing.

    To quote John Carmack:

In the information age, the barriers just aren't there. The barriers are self imposed. If you want to set off and go develop some grand new thing, you dont need millions of dollars of capitalization. You just need enough pizza [added] and [insert favorite beverage] to stick in your refrigerator, a cheap PC to work on, and the deadication to go through with it.

Anyway, I know I can get a job after my degree. But as the industry stands I'm feeling I'd rather start my own company thats small and make games that don't look the best but are fun, rather than work for a big company that makes clone games because thats all their publishers know will make them cash.

Same here. The Project Offset team is the best example. My ideal game dev job would be something like that.

I'm not impressed at all after looking at the screenshots. If they had more original content, then yeah I'd pay 15-20 bucks for it and it might look more impressive.

Gonna hafta go with ferret on this one.

doom3 engine, because as I'm sure many of you know, I'm not particularly fond of the fear engine at all. fear seemed to use more resources to do less than doom 3, but I'm still judging it by the demo and need to play the final product before I can honestly reply. My bet will probably still be d3e

most of my studying is for science and math classes, so I just do practice problems and create my own problems and solve them.

A subject like art history, I'd just read over my notes for about 30 minutes and then rewrite them, and read them over again. Tis what I did for my art history class. walked out with an easy A.

I have to disagree with you there. Maybe its just me but I never understood the point of cheering on and calling pro athletes heroes. So they can run faster than me, they can swim faster than me, they can drive faster than me in the format of left turns for 3 hours. I don’t think that is something to spend more than three minutes acknowledging and I certainly don’t think it’s worth giving them more money than one can spend in a lifetime.

Sure, it’s a form of social inspiration, its a form of friendly competition between cities, states, countries. Sporting events would have to be one of the few times separate nations can participate in an activity that most likely wont result in some form of a war, but I don’t think that means give them more money and fame when they break a new world record for speed on a race track.

I have more of an interest in where technology is going. Maybe I'm weird but I like hearing about what the newest invention and socially accepted piece of technology is. Sure most of them aren’t innovative or even useful, but to the ones that are, they deserve their kudos, even if it was developed by a multimillion dollar corporate conglomerate. A lot of people in this world hate Microsoft. I'm neither for nor against, but if everyone hates Microsoft, why still use their software? If everyone hated Microsoft enough, they would just stop using their software and switch to Mac, Linux, or invent their own OS. Developers would use these new fangled OS' instead because of the hatred for Microsoft. This doesn’t happen, because Microsoft writes good software that has a use. If it wasn’t good for something, developers would focus resources on developing on Mac machines or Linux.

May have gone a little off topic, but I would rather see kudos go to the technological innovations than the person/people who can run faster than me, bike faster than me, drive faster, etc.
