So isn't this just like a 100000000000 polys on a single item or what?

Finished the "story" yesterday with my friends in full 4 player coop. Story sucks massive donkey dicks. The angel is incredibly annoying and we wished for a way to turn her off. Some excellent voice acting and dialogue in the game, though. Shame they didn't do so well with the "story". Patricia Tannis for example has some great lines along with Jakob, TK Baha and Scooter. I'm level 39 and my friends are 45, 40 and 39. We're on the second playthrough at the moment and finding some sweet shit.
Pros
- Great voice acting and characters.
- Addictive as hell.
- cool guns even if most of them are just the same model with a different colour
- Nice cartoon look.
- Pretty damn funny.
- Great audio.
- Lots of nicely designed bad guys to blow apart.
- Jakobs lines on the vending machines. "A good defence is not just a good offence. It's a good defence!" "Are you not accurate enough? Then you need to shoot more bullets!"
- Just good fun!
Cons
- It's stuck to 60 FOV and makes me want to vomit everywhere. When will developers learn this doesn't work on PC's. There's a cheap hack you can do in the config but it doesn't work properly all of the time.
- Voice transmit is constantly enabled so you have to tweak the damn config again to turn that off.
- Mouse smoothing is on by default with no way of turning it off. SO YOU HAVE TO EDIT THE CONFIG AGAIN.
- Scroll wheel doesn't work in dialogue boxes.
- Not as open ended as I had hoped. You are constantly teased with huge expansive looking areas but try and head towards it and the game kills you.
- LOTS of invisible barriers
One especially good moment was meeting 9 toes when the camera freezes on him for a moment. "NINETOES (ALSO HAS 3 BALLS!)"

Why are you guys making it sound like we don't know what we're doing? We have an internal server setup that rebuilds everything every few hours so it's easy to fix something if it breaks. SVN is still used to commit items but not relied on so heavily anymore.
-
SVN turned out to be completely unable to handle the massive amount of files we were transferring and became a massive hindrance to us. Dropbox on the other hand had no trouble with anything we threw at it. Dropbox is linked to everyone's computer on the project. Add something, and everyone gets it. Delete something and everyone's gets deleted. It's great.

Yeah we use this for ns2

£35 is expensive. I'll end up borrowing this from a friend for the SP or get it second hand as it's never going to drop much in price. COD4 is still £29.99!

This game is going to be pirated to hell and back.

I'm not upset? Who said I was upset Holmes
I just didn't see the point of it is all -
It's Unreal 3. I concur on the second shot also. The stairs lead your eye up to the boat nicely. The surrounding areas on the cliffs and so forth should be a little darker blue in my opinion, not much, just a little so the burning ship is slightly more distinguishable.

This is plain rumour obviously but the writing made me think:
Have they never played counter strike? Or natural selection? Or any mp game ever?
How do you make this conclusion from the article you quoted from? It suggests that they have learnt from players exploiting the party talk in MW1 and fixed this issue in MW2 by blocking it. Of course this will upset some people who like this feature but then again since when do you care about the console version?

Basically what Furyo and HP said, trolling won't be tolerated, keep it constructive guys.
I wasn't trolling, that type of communication is part of the game. And I don't give a flying fuck about the console version I was just commenting on the comms.

A dead player, for example, could give away the location of the enemy that just killed him without waiting to respawn.

See, I think this is where people are missing the point. What they're trying to do is take their game beyond 'fun', making you seriously think about the state of the world and how horrible it is what happens to often innocent people — something that films have been doing for decades, and that games have yet to really touch me with.
I mean, you wouldn't say a film like Shindler's List is 'fun' or even 'entertaining', right? But you might still call it an incredible film. This is a distinction games haven't managed to make yet — games that aren't really what you'd call 'fun', but still deliver a powerful experience. I personally want more games that make me sit down and think about how much something I just did hit me emotionally, whereas I guess what you want is visceral entertainment (shock, scares, instant feedback). A difference of taste, I guess.
What they're doing is comparable to things like 24 which give you a keen insight into the workings of terrorist organisations, and then actually follow them as they commit atrocities. Innocent people are depicted dying in horrific ways, and it's fucking ugly. But it's what happens, and the programme is making the viewer feel the impact. Some TV critics have called this kind of thing 'glorifying violence', of course.
With games you can't really do it in the same way, unless you use a cutscene. Games are quite uniquely positioned to depict terrible things from the perspective of those actually doing it, whereas the closest films and TV can get is to watch them doing it. Infinity Ward are crossing a milestone in how seriously games will be treated as a dramatic medium IMO, and I applaud them for it.

The biggest problem I have is you cannot save your images. If an employer wished to take some of your images for later reference he/she would be unable to do so. I wanted to link one here to ask about something but am unable to do so!

I really don't get what's so bad about it. You guys have been playing too much console. Going soft on us!
And Postal and GTA, in their day, were some of the better looking games.
