This is plain rumour obviously but the writing made me think:

Have they never played counter strike? Or natural selection? Or any mp game ever?

How do you make this conclusion from the article you quoted from? It suggests that they have learnt from players exploiting the party talk in MW1 and fixed this issue in MW2 by blocking it. Of course this will upset some people who like this feature but then again since when do you care about the console version?

Basically what Furyo and HP said, trolling won't be tolerated, keep it constructive guys.

I wasn't trolling, that type of communication is part of the game. And I don't give a flying fuck about the console version I was just commenting on the comms.

I agree, I think Frie is misinterpreting some of our stances on the issue.

It's less what you have to say, and more the abrasive manner in which you're saying it. This kind of thing:

    Quote

IW: LETS COUNTER PIRACY BY MAKING IT FULLY INTEGRATED WITH STEAM AND VAC.Community: Sure sounds good, yay no punkbuster, woo!

IW: LETS PROMOTE PIRACY BY RUINING THE FUCKING GAME

If you decide to not be more adult about the way you put forth opinions, you'll find you're no longer welcome in an environment primarily populated by industry professionals who don't need to be told that they're "ruining the fucking game" they've spent years on.

Just bear in in mind that if at any point you decide to criticise any game, there's a considerable chance someone who worked on it visits MapCore. As such, criticise it like you'd criticise a friend's work — with sensitivity and respect. Because we are all friends here, right?

This is honestly a brilliant business move, charging more for the strategy guide version with Achievement info, because you know there's a big crowd that'll go nuts for that sort of stuff.

You know, I wonder why strategy guides still exist, though. How can they compete with what's freely posted on the internet? I haven't bought a strategy guide since Ocarina of Time.

My bad. I probably should have rephrased it better, but my point was still valid. You don't promote anti-piracy through making bad decisions and angering your community.

And I wasn't directly attacking anyone's work on MW2 or at IW, I just think the company as a whole is making bad decisions... No one here is responsible for that, nor is any one person at IW responsible.

If I offended anyone, I didn't mean to.

Bro, this only affects the XBOX360 version, why are you so upset?

Wow, I had no idea Zimmer was doing the soundtrack. I hope his wonderful film techniques carry well into games!

As much as I love Hans Zimmer, I'm a hair bit bummed about it. They kinda ditched their old composer as far as I know, unless it will be a co-production.

However Hans Zimmer's soundtracks for PotC were excellent and I'm sure it will only add to MW2.

Weird that the dude frames it like the only options are peer to peer multiplayer or developer/publisher hosted servers. I don't need you to host the game for me, dawg, that's cool. Just release a dedicated server client, and fans'll take care of that.

Of course, while apparently AVP multiplayer is a big deal I owned AvP gold for years before ever even noticing it had multiplayer. I was way more interested in the awesome SP.

Original CoD composer was Michael Giacchino who actually got his start in video games before going onto film. Maybe Hans will retire from film and do games? Perhaps could be a sequel to Trading Places.

This right here is just about enough to make me rage like the worst trolls on this issue. What the christ is with console developers and FOV options? When you're playing a console game, you're sitting back from the screen on a couch. When you're playing a PC game, you're sitting a foot from a widescreen monitor right in front of you. The same FOV for one DOES NOT work in the other! It's not even like changing it is something difficult to do, since that's how most zoom-in/iron sight functions work in games. Not giving the player the option to change it is just a lazy, thoughtless oversight that makes it seem like you don't care about people enjoying your game.

And that answer is just smug as anything. Considering earlier today I was reading Travis Baldree sincerely apologizing to the few Torchlight players who have experienced bugs, to go right to this is pretty harsh.

Everytime I open this thread I get pissed of more. Their whole design philosophy is just fucked. "Play it how we want you to play it"

Last I was taught we are supposed to cater design towards the user, but apparently that has changed now.

Just makes me wonder what their focus group testing is like, but it sounds like they never even bothered with that.

They aren't getting my $60. I doubt they will notice though seeing as they are swimming in a pool of cash thanks to the brotards on the consoles.

That last sentence was clearly biased and ignorant, but i'm just venting (and a little intoxicated)

I don't get what's going on... They keep announcing things which the community keeps going "Boo" at, and then they announce another "Boo" item...

They just announced 9v9 Max players... That's too big for competition and too small for a good game I'd think? Either way...

"• Response to the petition is "All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Also, not all of the names on that list are legit. Yes, the wink was indeed used in the response."

I think it's valid that their trying to make a fair and balanced gameplay but... with no demo and all of these "turn off" features...

    I just don't know anymore.

Reading the replies on some other forums, people are not happy with this. I've seen a lot of "F u's" and "Not paying $60 for this bs", among others... I'm honestly surprised at what their doing. And the "official" response to the pirated copy? Ignored.

You said IWnet was created to help stop piracy, what do you say about the Xbox 360 version leaked and shared on torrent sites?Vince-IW

IWnet was designed to make the MP experience on PC easier and more balanced.

In other news MW2 just broke another pre-order record:

    Quote

"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time," says Tony Bartel, executive vice president for merchandising and marketing at GameStop. "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."
