I finaly finished my singleplayer for Half-Life 2.
The mod is set just before the events in HL2 and brings custom music, prop models and textures.
It takes the average player probebly around a hour to finish the intro and 5 maps.

Since this is not a HL2 site and most of you probebly won't play it,
here are alot more screenshots

And the credits http://awakening.hl2files.com/credits.htm
I also released a mappack with updates to my css maps
The only noteworthy map here is de_battleship since that one got a
huge update with custom models.

BTW I was being sincere when I asked what other additions to the play are in TF2. I'd actually like to know since I'll be getting it and love TF.

Scout's Doublejump
Such a big discussion about grenades, I played TFC 2 years and then switched to CS, in TFc the grenade became the most dangeroes weapon of a class.
Yes conc/grenadejumps were engine bugs as far as I know, the developers never tought to use it as a jump boost.
Just like the gravgun jumping thats used by those poeple playing hl2 in a hour.

I'm quietly hoping they'll somehow retain conc jumping, even if not specifically with a conc grenade. The general concept of bounding around as a medic using skill was really cool and what basically made the class so loved by many people (infection was nice but not really that commonly used, mainly by new players).
The scout can 'doublejump' or something whats replacing the concjump.
I believe conc/grenade/... jumps were just a engine bug in the orriginal TF that became a feature, but I'm not really sure about that tough.
Quote from TaylorAnyone who played TFC back in the day, not CS, endorse the removal of grenades?
Well like Valve said, TFC became a grenade spam fest, made classes better then other classes what were suposed to be better in something specific (scout
So I am not that sceptical about it altough TF2 will feel as a somewhat different game as TFC. It means all classes are more unique and have the strong points and weaknesses, unlike TFC where every class could get the same result with good timed/primed frag grenade.
I'm sure that the classes got other special features instead (like the scouts doublejump I mentioned) at least I hope so

make the official submissions thread right away so you don't miss the thread if you forget to check a couple of days and asumed the other thread was good enough

Things that made wow get the subscribers they have:
- The hype it generated.
- The hype blizzard gets anyway.
- Ability to buy prepaid cards what made it better accessable outside the US. People generally don't have credit cards in europe and when they have, don't trust is so much online, for DAOC I paid the subscriptions for 5-6 people ...
- Newbie friendlyness.
The endgame is not better then any other mmo out there so calling WOW a better game is something I disagree with, its sure is a more succesfull game, but for a large part that is not the effect of being a better game.

that page doesn't mention hl2dm specific and I tough HL2 and HL2dm still didn't support hdr.
I think I even compiled my map with hdr once to make sure

-
looks like I did something wrong

*edit* hl2dm supports hdr?
-
I still have faith in duke4E and can't wait to play with the ice or shrink gun again

-
Wel any reason is good to have a party

Looking cool Bluestrike, another map that kinda reminds me of Halo in its style and architecture. How do you get around though? You said you had planned on using a conveyor but ended up with something else, but I can't see that many linking routes. Lots of ladders, or jump pads or something that are hard to notice?
The transport system is still there (2 lines with eatch 2 'trains' on it)
its the only way to get to the top floor with the exploding barrels,
besides that there are ladders in the 4 pillars.
But it probebly plays like shit anyway

Youre last screenshoot really looks awesome and thats a word I rarely use

Merkaba, Nice displacmenets work, looks unique to me, is that a hl2 texture on the top structure? haven't really seen it before

-
looks good, a smoothing group and lower lightmap scale on the pillars in the 3rd screenshot would have made them look alot better.

Can't connect to teh ftp.
Anyway:

Original idea was this conveyor thingy players had to use to get higher in the map and plateau's at the sides, and tubes at the side where they spawn.
At the top they would find a good weapon.
Then I played with the idea of a giant incinerator (spelled wrong probebly) in the middle, and the player what got to the top would fry everybody else by pusing a button.
In the end I ended up with this,
pretty much made everything up as I made progress with the map.
Had to remove the railings on the moving plateaus because they gave stuck issues.
Well at least its better then the one I sent in for the Valve dm map contest

I used to believe that the right to bear arms was a questionable one at best, but when you actually look at the facts, you'll find that people who legally own guns and passed all the tests to get them are not the people going around shooting people all the time. It's not very often that a criminal legally buys a gun. The country is already flooded with weapons, and by taking away the guns from responsible gun owners who legally acquired their weapons all you're doing is disarming people who aren't doing anything wrong. States that have concealed carry laws are far less attractive to criminal activity because when every other person might just be carrying a gun you're hardly going to try anything because you'll get shot for your trouble. If you know that nobody is allowed to carry a gun about their person or in their homes then it gives you and your illegal weapon a license to do whatever the hell you want without fear of getting shot by civilians.
What the authorities should really do is try and reduce the amount of illegal guns, and introduce better laws and means of upholding laws that enforce people to secure their weapons safely in their homes, so people cannot steal them and sell them on, or kids can't get hold of them simply by opening a cupboard or looking in a shoebox.
If half the students had guns in their dorms then that punk-ass kid wouldn't have got very far after his first shot.
I'm not encouraging the arming of schoolchildren but the usual knee-jerk reaction is not always the best one, and there's always people behind the emotion who will attempt to exploit their own agenda - people far more dangerous and persuasive than JT.
When people question the right to wear arms, its not that they want to see them banned, whats imposible anyway, but subject to better rules (as you mention)
In Virginia a 12 year old is able to buy a gun.
Weapons are indeed spread widely over the US, there is a ratio of 93-96 weapons per 100 people in the US, in Holland thats 2:100 Belgium 16:100 Norway 38:100 as far as I can remember the numbers from teh newspaper.

haha yeah the rail system is taking much more space then I wanted,
i need to shange the spawn tubes positions or figure something else out.

BF2 is 20x bigger, 3x higher? have drivable tanks/jeeps flyable helicopters/jets etc etc...
But yes, I concur, Insurgency looks hot, respect to all that devote their time on it! Lets hope it plays hot too

Size doesn't matter

A actual playable Dm level eh?
Hmm i got some idea for that

-
I would have tought a level designer is someone creating a level and getting the assets from someone else (artist, modeler) where a envoirement artist does more of these things himself and so control the feeling/settings of a level more.
But hey that was my view on the difference
